LESSON PLAN
Target group : Year 1 Duration : 60 minutes Theme : World of Knowledge Focus skills : Speaking and Listening Content Standard : 1. 1 By the end of 6-year primary schooling, pupils will able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. 1.2 By the end of 6-year primary schooling, pupils will able to listen and respond appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of purposes.

Learning Standard : 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs. 1.2. 1 Able to participate in daily conversations: a) exchange greetings Objectives : By the end of this lesson, students will be able : i. to pronounce words confidently with correct stress ii. Greet people appropriately according to the time

Set Induction (5 minutes)


Activity / Content Whole class activity Aids: Laptop LCD projector Presentation / Rationale 1. Teacher introduces the nursery rhyme Good Morning. 2. Teacher plays video of the songs and asks students to sing along. Rationale : To create an atmosphere in such a way that the students interest will be set upon the subject or topic they are going to learn.

Activity / Content Whole class activity Aids: Flashcards Presentation 1) Teacher teaches students the greetings, good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night 2) Teacher shows pictures of clocks and relates the time with the greeting.

Practice (20 minutes)


Activity / Content Whole class activity Presentation 1. Teacher distributes the handouts with missing lyrics and asks students to fill it while listening to the song. 2. Teacher replays the nursery rhyme and asks students to sing along and replace the phrase good morning to good afternoon, good evening and goodnight 3. Teacher distributes handouts and asks students to fill in the dialogues according to the time to complete the greetings.

Production (20 minutes)


Activity / Content Pair work / role play Presentation 1. Teacher gives a situation for every pair to act out. This situation includes the time of the day and the place. For example, in the morning at school. 2. Students in pair say the correct greetings to each other.

Activity / Content Whole class activity Presentation 1. Teacher recaps all the lesson of the day. 2. Teacher tells the students to greet each other and give responses. 3. Teacher plays the song again and ask students to sing along indicating the end of the lesson.
