Production
Production started in 2008.
Recorded via analogue tape to Pro Tools.

Guest musicians such as Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder.
Avoided modern day techniques such as EQ and digital plug-ins. Recording finished in 2012. Daft Punk spent over $1,000,000 during production.

Promotion and Marketing


New music announced in 2008 by Daft Punk in an interview.
Paul Williams states he is working with Daft Punk in 2010.

First picture of the album cover released in February 2013.


Columbia Records promoting new album via billboards and posters. Get Lucky Saturday Night Live ad. Columbia announces track list through Vine. Available to pre-order as of the 23rd of March 2013.

Random Access Memories was released on the 17th of May 2013, available on multiple formats. On the night of release the album was promoted via an album release party.

Sales
Get Lucky has sold over 1 million copies alone in the United Kingdom and was the first record in 2013 to do so.
To date Random Access Memories has over 850,000 album sales in the US with an approximation of 885,000. The chart below shows the sales of Random Access Memories over the first 3 weeks in the UK, US and France.

Commercial Success
In August 2013, Get Lucky had over 100 million streams on Spotify and as of late January 2014 the official video has had over 150 million views on YouTube. Daft Punk won 5 Grammys including Album of the Year.
Post Grammys, Random Access Memories goes from number 51 to number 3 on Amazon's MP3 Best Sellers. Give Life Back to Music got into the United Kingdom and United States charts.

Get Lucky reached number 1 in multiple countries.

Reception and Reviews


Random Access Memories has generally positive reviews.
Pitchfork rated the album 8.8/10, detailing each song.

Named Album of the Year at the Grammys.


NME called the album a masterpiece.

TheQuietUs gave an honest review stating they liked a few songs however most were amusingly bad and just lazy.
Random Access Memories was rated 4/5 stars by The Rolling Stone Magazine.
