Intro of Chingay
It is the largest street performance and float parade in Asia. From the main parade site to the heartlands, this street extravaganza epitomise the dynamism of Singapore's vibrant and multicultural society. The work Chingay is equivalent to the Mandarin zhuang yi (), which means "the art of costume and masquerade" in the Hokkien dialect.

Chingay Colours of Fabric, One People , where age, race, language and creed are no barriers and we celebrate together as one. The different colored fabrics used by the performers shows the various types of people in Singapore. If we look closely, we can see that the performers are from different races in different ethnic costumes.

It shows the care of the people in Singapore to the community, which shows the community service.

The CDC, the company mentioned in the pictures, encourages volunteerism from wider community, and organises community and social assistance programmes with the help of a monetary grant from the government. It is a government-led programme to organise grassroot organisations and community programmes into smaller, local units as a bridge between the government and the community.

"Military Defence is to "enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy. "Civil Defence" is about ensuring Singaporeans know what to do in times of an emergency "Economic Defence" is defined as maintaining the economy of the country and its ability to compete in the world, as well as environmental protection. It also involves helping Singapore (and Singaporeans) stay relevant in the global economy and putting in place economic systems to ensure that the Singapore economy does not collapse in times of crisis. "Social Defence" is about keeping the social fabric strong and ensuring that Singaporeans live in harmony regardless of race or religion. This is especially important because Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-religious society. "Psychological Defence" is about loyalty, commitment to Singapore, and having the will power and resilience to overcome challenges. This is the component that would determine if Singaporeans will stay to fight or abandon the country when it is in trouble.

Singapore Culture
Singapore has a diverse populace of nearly 5 million people which is made up of Chinese, Malays, Indians, Caucasians and Eurasians (plus other mixed groups) and Asians of different origins, which is in line with the nation's history as a crossroads for various ethnic and racial groups.

Chinese

These two pictures show the traditional lion dance and dragon dance that the Chinese perform usually during the Chinese new year. There is also a picture where the prosperity god is waving to the crowd.

Dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. Like the lion dance it is most often seen in festive celebrations. The dance is performed by a team of dancers who manipulate a long flexible figure of a dragon using poles positioned at regular intervals along the length of the dragon. The dance team mimics the supposed movements of this river spirit in a sinuous, undulating manner. Lion dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries, in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume. The lion dance is usually performed during the Chinese New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals.

The Chinese culture in Singapore blends the cultural practices of the southern Chinese, local ethnicities and western influences.

Most Singapore Malays in Singapore are Sunni Muslims who follow Islam as their religion. They pray to God, which is Allah swt in their religion, five times a day, eat only halal food and fast during Ramadan. Hari Raya Puasa is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, the fasting month of Ramadan. After morning prayers in the mosque, Malays customarily invite friends home to enjoy the feast together.

The Indian culture has many different aspects and it is very colorful based on this picture.

55% of Singapore's ethnic Indians are Hindu, and there are roughly 30 Hindu temples in the country, with two gazetted as National Monuments of Singapore. Little India represents the heart of Indian shopping with its heady scent of spices and jasmine garlands, its treasure trove of silverware, brassware, ethnic jewellery and colourful silk saris.

Rich heirs to a diversity of traditions and customs from the East and West, Eurasians are largely of the Christian faith and enjoy its religious celebrations. Many Singaporean Eurasians are of the Roman Catholic faith and celebrate Christian festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Corpus Christi.

The Japanese cuisine (, washoku) offers a very large variety of dishes and regional specialities. Correct manners are very important among the Japanese. Also as a foreigner in Japan you should be familiar with at least the most basic rules. Could you name out some? Shinto and Buddhism are Japan's two major religions. Shinto is as old as the Japanese culture, while Buddhism was imported from the mainland in the 6th century. Since then, the two religions have been coexisting relatively harmoniously and have even complemented each other to a certain degree. Most Japanese consider themselves Buddhist, Shintoist or both.

The Javanese and Balinese shadow puppet theatre shows wayang kulit displaying several mythological events. Music, singing, dance, drama and the silat martial art are all incorporated together and are based on the stories of the legend. The official language of Indonesia is Indonesian or Bahasa Indonesia. Its universally taught in schools and is spoken by nearly every Indonesian in business, politics, national media, education and academics.
