EPOCH 1000 Series

EPOCH 1000 Series Introduction

The EPOCH 1000 Series provides the highest performance conventional flaw detection ever offered in the EPOCH flaw detector product line. Phased Array imaging capabilities for
Better Probability of Detection More efficient inspections

Large, Full VGA resolution, transflective display Case designed to meet IP66 environmental seal requirements. EN12668-1 Compliant (Conventional UT) Horizontal layout with adjustment knob as well as EPOCH-style adjustment cluster.

Three Instrument Offerings

The EPOCH 1000 Series is offered in three configurations: EPOCH 1000 High performance conventional Flaw Detector. Phased Array Imaging option may be added with a hardware upgrade at an authorized Olympus NDT service center.

EPOCH 1000iR Exactly the same conventional UT features and capabilities as the EPOCH 1000 instrument. The EPOCH 1000iR comes with calibrated phased array hardware pre-installed. Phased array imaging capabilities can be activated remotely as a software option, saving the need for upgrade at a service center. EPOCH 1000i Phased Array imaging hardware and software capabilities are factory installed on the EPOCH 1000i, without sacrificing any of the advanced conventional flaw detection capabilities of the EPOCH 1000 instrument.

EPOCH 1000 Series Product Position

The product positioning of this series of instruments is a key factor to sales success

The EPOCH 1000 Series bridges the gap between conventional, portable flaw detectors (EPOCH and Sonic series) and the advanced phased array flaw detectors (OmniScan series)
Instrument series may better address some market segments currently supported by other instruments
EPOCH XT previously the only portable conventional solution OmniScan M previously the only entry-level phased array solution Product differentiation is a key component of selling the EPOCH 1000 Series

Direct competitors include:

Key Features Phased Array Features

Normal Viewing Mode The normal S-scan viewing mode of the EPOCH 1000 Series is geometrically correct.
When properly calibrated, the S-scan portrays a to-scale representation of the angle sweep defined which does not utilize the full viewing area of the S-scan screen. Best Fit mode stretches the S-scan to fill the allotted display area while maintaining correct surface and depth distances and rulers.

Best Fit Viewing Mode The EPOCH 1000 Series features a Best Fit mode in imaging.
