Chronic NCDs are a major cause and a huge economic burden to individuals, their families and society. This financial burden of paying for services is a major obstacle to the access to health care, most especially the poor.
There are a number of financing strategies that can be used to ensure stable funding: - mobilizing resources from the private sector (NGOs, the church, pharmaceutical industries or other associations)
- user fees, PhilHealth; and pooling of resources among patients with similar situations and interests.
