Use of rubble of buildings how recycled sand in construction

Marcos Antonio da Silva 12/03/2013

What is the problem?

Quantity of Construction Demolition Waste (CDW) produced all day; Correct disposal for this waste;

Find new places for landfills (the still available are saturated or nearly);
Being a new material is still viewed with suspicion to be in large-scale.

Typical CWD
Material Components
Wood Drywall Metals Plastics Roofing

Content Examples
Forming and framing lumber, stumps/trees, engineered wood. Sheetrock (Wallboard) Pipes, rebar, flashing, wiring, framing Vinyl siding, doors, windows, flooring, pipes, packaging Asphalt, wood, slate, and tile shingles, roofing felt

Masonry
Glass Miscellaneous Cardboard Concrete

Cinder blocks, brick, masonry cement

Windows, mirrors, lights Carpeting, fixtures, insulation, ceramic tile From newly installed items such as appliances and tile Foundations, driveways, sidewalks, floors, road surfaces (all concrete containing Portland cement

Asphalt Pavement

Sidewalks and road structures made with asphalt binder

The U.S. alone produces around 200-300 million tons of Construction Demolition Waste (CDW).

Jobs Creation

U.S. recycling industry: US$ 236 billion in revenue.

Employer: Half a million people and accounting for about 2 % of the countrys GDP.

Uses of recycled materials

Recycle Sand; Gravel and higher sizes; Sub-base for paving;

Costs are that recycled sand cost between 15%

and 30% less of original produce of sand.
