Overview
Misdirect Movies is a co-curated (Andrew Bracey and John Rimmer) touring exhibition. It explores how access to digital formats has allowed artists to create different and innovative attitudes towards collage.

The exhibition builds upon Braceys previous research disseminated in artworks such as The Jump and Frames and the curated exhibition Unspooling: Artists & Cinema.

Misdirect Movies was funded by Arts Council England, University of Lincoln, Bishop Grossette University and Castlefield Gallery.

Overview
The exhibition included diverse media by Andrew Bracey, John Rimmer, Elizabeth McAlpine, Dave Griffiths, Cathy Lomax, Rosa Barba and David Reed. The exhibition toured: Royal Standard, Liverpool (March 16-31, 2013) Standpoint Gallery, London (July 5-August 17, 2013) Greyfriars, Lincoln, as part of Frequency 2013: Digital Culture Festival (October 4-26, 2013) Meter Room, Coventry (November 8-December 1, 2013) Each venue featured different artworks, including new commissions, and was configured to suit the space so that the exhibition was akin to a shifting collage.

Ensemble Cast is a new artwork by Bracey was commissioned for Misdirect Movies. It was first shown at Greyfriars, Lincoln, as part of Frequency 2013: Digital Culture Festival.

1,500 still images of different film stars are reduced to one restlessly moving head in a looped one minute animation.

Catalogue
The catalogue was published by Cornerhouse Publications and features essays by Bracey, Rimmer, Dr Jaimie Baron and Dr Maria Walsh, and a conversation between Dr Sam George and Sir Christopher Frayling. The catalogue essays reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the exhibitions curatorial focus and feature contributions from visual arts, English literature and film studies.
