OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
To find the eligibility for Information Technology training
programmes.

To study existing training and development programmes

that are practiced.

To suggest the company on how to maximize its effectiveness

while providing, managing and delivering training programmes.

To identify the facilities provided during the training

programmes.

To critically analyze and interpret the data collected through

primary and secondary sources.
FINDINGS
About the Management and Systems
Administration Dept :

 The management feels that fresher trainees discipline and

corporate culture is not up to the mark.

 It is found that most of the corporate trainings are conducted on

niche technologies and these softwares are not easily available.

 It is observed that only two system administrators are responsible

to maintain around 140 systems.

 It is found during interaction with the systems engineer that

training softwares work fine during rehearsals but display errors
during trainings.
Findings About the
Trainers
 It can be inferred that almost all trainers are males since I got the
opportunity to interact with corporate trainers of five batches only.

 It is observed that performance matters the most. Being post graduates in

technology and computer applications, there are respondents who are
trainees but with the same qualification and even being graduates in
engineering, respondents have become corporate level trainers.

 As lecture is the most popular technique of training, the trainees learn

presentation skills from the trainers. When case studies are given to
present, they develop their presentation skills by observing their colleagues
and implementing them.

 As a few trainers are average in providing reading materials to the trainees,

they believe reading materials will make the students inattentive.

 It can be inferred that trainers confidence level is up to the mark since

majority of the trainers believe they have good knowledge on their subject.
Findings about the trainers
(conti…)
 Since majority of the trainers feel they are good in updating latest concepts,
this shows that trainers are well prepared for their sessions and keep
themselves updated on current affairs.

 As the trainers and trainees are of similar age groups, both the parties
share excellent relationship and the trainers are positive that they can
understand their candidates well and are able to make the sessions
interactive also.

 It can also be inferred that majority of the trainers have not attended the
trainers training programme due to lack of opportunity.

 It is found from the trainers response that concentration level of trainees

cannot stretch for more that 2 to 3 hours continuously.

 As majority of the trainers have excellent relationship with their trainees,

they understand each other well and interaction level is high.

 It is noticed that ego problems arise when the trainees have more work
experience than the trainers.
 It is seen that majority of the workforce range between 20 – 25 years.

 The survey shows that majority of the trainees are graduates and few are
postgraduates.

 It is seen that salaries are distinguished among different designations.

Designations have differences of 5 lacks approximately.

 It is found that case study and workshop are considered as the most
effective methods of training as they prevent monotony.

 It is found most trainees are capable of concentrating for 4 to 5 hours.

 Majority of the respondents feel that trainings are relevant to the need of
the job because they are trained on that technology where they are
supposed to execute tasks in that particular environment.

 Of all the respondents who were surveyed, majority of them prefer to

provide feedbacks to improve trainings.
 It is seen that freshers as well as experienced trainees are confused
whether previous work experience is required for their trainings or not.

 Since majority of the trainees believe that training is relevant to job

specification, they feel impact of training on job performance is also
good.

 During the training sessions, group activities are encouraged. Thus

70% of the candidates perceive the impact of training on team
development is good.

 Since the training programmes are designed to perform the tasks in an

efficient way, majority of the trainees rated satisfactory on the impact
of training on reduction of errors.

 It is observed that due to internet accessibility during trainings, the

trainees are tempted to check their mails or chat .
To the Management
Feedbacks should be taken not only after the completion of the
training programme, but it should also be considered in between the
training sessions also.

It is recommended that more personality development

programmes should be introduced for the benefit of employees who
want to gain self confidence in workplace and overcome inferiority
complex

The training rooms should be made soundproof to avoid noise

pollution.

More system administrators should be recruited in order to meet

the requirements of each training lab. They should be readily
available to rectify errors and avoid interruptions during training
sessions.

Counseling should be provided to the employee at the time of low

performance.
Suggestions to the systems administration
department

 Unavailability of niche software’s should be discussed by the

management prior to trainings. They will try their best to arrange
the same or recommend links.

 Systems engineers should block social networking sites such as

orkut, hi5, facebook, ibibi, minglebox and so on, so that trainees
can concentrate on what is being taught in training sessions.

 Training programmes can be more effective if it is suitably

modified depending on the trainees requirements.
Suggestions to the
Trainers
 Fresher trainees should be informed about the corporate culture, prior
to the actual training session. This will help in maintaining discipline and
decorum during the training programme.

 Majority of the trainees feel that effective duration of training session is

4-5 hours. Hence, duration of the training program should be reduced on
daily basis. Instead it should be stretched for number of days.

 Trainers should strictly consider the suggestions given by the trainees
and implement the same for the respective batches to make training
more effective.

  Ego problems between the trainer and trainees should be discussed with
the higher authorities. Discussions among the trainer and trainees for the
same will make matters worse.

 The systems should be allocated on one to one basis. One system should
not be shared among two or more trainees. It results in distraction or
personal discussion.

Suggestions to the Trainers
(conti…)
 During technical trainings, the trainer should clearly match the contents
of the training programme to the needs of their respective jobs.
This will create seriousness among candidates and their concentration
power will increase.

 Workshops should be conducted instead of monotonous lectures. Majority

of the candidates feel that workshop is the most effective method of
training.

 Since majority of the freshers agree that previous work experience is

important for their training, training contents should include
fundamentals and basic concepts before technical introduction.

 Group discussions should be encouraged as 12% trainees perceive the

impact of training on developing leadership qualities is ‘average’.

 All the corporate trainers should be encouraged to attend trainer’s
training programmes to deliver quality training.
Suggestions to the Trainees
 Trainees should clear their doubts in respective sessions
rather than getting confused and carrying on with the other
concepts. They should not stress the trainers when they are
given to execute real time projects.

 It is strongly suggested that trainees should revise the

previous class notes in order to follow the subsequent
sessions successfully.

 Trainees should maintain discipline and decorum during

training programmes. This will help trainers to share what
ever they have planned for the particular session.
