Progressive forms:
past be in present + present participle (verb + -ing). future (Cowan, Ron, 2008: 362)

The present progressive: form: be (i.e. am, is, or are) +

(verb+ -ing). Negative with not after verb to be: (be + not) in contracted (short) forms

Generally, actions in progress. (Greenbaum, 1996) Present progressive use: Ongoing actions at the time of speaking, or over a temporary or limited period. A planned future event with stative verbs, e.g.: Unusual temporary change, Gradual change. Alternative to the simple present(informal or polite tone). (Cown, Ron, 2008: 364-366)

1.Presentation

Introduce a present progressive situation


Model an ongoing action with visuals , e.g. a picture

2.Controlled Practice
Practice orally in pairs
Slips of cards with sentences in progressive tense. Students in pairs involve in a dialogic talk using the cards (choral),

e.g.: Students monitored and mistakes corrected. Fill-in-the-gap activity (restricted exercise) Worksheet Spoken, useful vocabulary, communicative.

3.Production
Board race game: Students work in groups(4-5 students per each) . A representative student heads to the board and writes. Other partners of each group dictate to their rep sentences in progressive tense. Time-limited task. Then Ss self-correction. Collaborative, less-controlled and communicative.
