Why GRE ?
A GRE score is be a required part of your application to

a graduate-level program in the US and some of the English speaking countries. Even if its not a set requirement, it may still help to support your application for a place on a masters or PhD program, or for a fellowship. Created and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS).

IMPORTANCE
In the graduate school admissions process, the level of

emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies widely between schools and between departments within schools. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor.

General + Subject Test


In addition to the general test, there are also subject

specific tests, available in eight subjects: Psychology, Physics, Mathematics, Literature in English, Chemistry, Computer science Biology Biochemistry Cell and molecular biology.

STRUCTURE for General Test


Analytical Writing 2 Essays 30 minutes each
Verbal Reasoning 2 Sections - 30 minutes each Quantitative Reasoning 2 Sections 35 minutes each

1 DUMMY SECTION. (Either Verbal OR Quant)

- The length of the test is about 4 hours.

Points to Note :
For the online registration of the test , go to http://www.ets.org/gre Fees for attempting the GRE once is $185, for a CBT. There is only 1 center for taking the GRE in Ahmedabad , which is at President hotel ,C.G. Road . You can take the GRE revised General Test once every 21 days, and up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period.
