Abrahams Call and Gods Promise


1. Abram found what actually God is 2. Until he found the God that oe God is above all other gods and didnt have any connection with any other gods of the Near East. 3. When his wife was barren and want to bear his child, God led him and so became the father of the faith of the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims. 4. Abram might have known his God by the name El Shaddai (which means the One of the Mountain) instead of Yahweh.

The Semites
1. The word Semites comes from Shem, the name of one Noahs three Sons. 2. The Semites were known as nomadic people, but today they are understood as shepherding and more settled, and also farmings groups.

Abram and Melchizedek


1. When a famine came to the land of Canaan, so Abram and his wife, Sarai, made a journey to Egypt. Then after they return from their stay, Abram rescued his nephew,Lot, from capture by four allied kings. after this mission, Abram was greeted by the priest king of Salem,Melchizedek, who brought him bread and wine and blesses him in the name of God. 2. Offerings of thanksgiving This offerings was usually done by Abel, Noah and Abram. They burnt animals, and made them as a food, as a symbol of the offering of their life.

Abrams Doubt
1. Abram was doubt about having a child. He didnt have any child until he was in old age, because his wife was barren. Then he asked to the God, does it need for him to adopt a son?

The Birth of Ishmael


1. Becauseof the barren of Sarai, then Sarai told Abram to take her Egyptian maid, Hagar, as a concubine a, and get a child from her. 2. After the resulting ill treatment by Sarai, Hagar runs away. In the wilderness, a messenger of God appeared to her. At his command, then she returned to submit to her mistress, that her unborn son, Ishmael will grow to manhood wild and free. 3. About their custom of taking concubines and practicing polygamy which is taking more than one wife, it has an explanation : If a wife was barren, a female servant might become a surrogate childbearer, a concubine to the husband. Or the husband might take a second wife in order to give children.

Abrahams Visitation
1. When he was sitting outside his tent, he was visited by three strangers-who we later learn represent God. His wife, Sarah, listened behind the flap of the tent. She was laugh out aloud, when one of the visitors said that in a year she would bear a son. It repeated Gods promise to Abraham that one day he will be a father of nations. 2. Both Abraham dan Sarah laughed when told that they will have a son of their own,and God gave the name Isaac as their son.

Abrahams Intercession for Lot


1. God told to Abraham that He wanted to destroy Sodom, wicked city. Abraham pleads for the safety of his nephew,Lot, who lived there. 2. The Scriptures listed sodomy, that is a sexual intercourse between persons of the same sex. Thats why this city is reputed, so that God destroyed it.

The Birth of Isaac and Abrahams Test


1. Because of Sarahs fear that Ishmael might threaten Isaacs inheritance , Hagar was expelled. Hagar was desperated because there was no water and always thought that her boy would die. Then God helped her, and she could find a spring and save her son. 2. From the Biblical writer, the Abrahams Test showed Abrahams obedience to the God. God told to Abraham to take his son, Isaac, to a place on a mountain and sacrificed him as a holocaust- a burnt offering.

Isaac and Rebekah


1. Sarah was died. Abraham facing his own death and Isaac grew up. Abraham instruct Isaac to find a bride from among their tribe to Haran. 2. The first time they met Rebekahs brother, Laban. Then Isaac married with Rebekah. 3. Abraham married again and had many children by another woman. When he died at 175 years old, Ishmael and Isaac bury him next to Sarah in the familys field.
