What is Lupus?
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body).

Symptoms
Extreme fatigue (tiredness) Headaches Painful or swollen joints Fever Anemia (low numbers of red blood cells) Swelling (edema) in feet, legs, hands, and/ or around eyes Pain in chest on deep breathing (pleurisy)

What causes Lupus


The exact cause of lupus is not known. Experts believe that some people are born with certain genes that affect how the immune system works and that they are more likely to get lupus.

How is Lupus diagnosed?


There is no single test for lupus. Because lupus affects different people in different ways, it can be hard for physicians to diagnose.

How is Lupus Treated?


Applying corticosteroid cream for rashes. Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for muscle pain Antimalarial drugs. Immune suppressants
