All regular polygons A regular regular square has octagon four A hexagon have equal number of axes has eight sides. equal So, it has six equal sides. based on four their number sides. has So, symmetry has eight So, it it has six of sides. symmetry axes.axes. symmetry axes.
All regular hexagon has six sides. So, sketch the hexagon with six equal sides.

Step 3: Connect all the five points of each sector at the circumference of the circle. 11/13/2013
A ruler and a pair of compasses can be used to construct an equilateral triangle, square and a regular hexagon. Example: Consrtuct an equilateral triangle ABC with sides of length 6 cm. Solution:
C
Step 1: Draw a line AB, 6 cm. Step 2: Set the compasses at 6 cm and using A and B as the centres, draw two arcs that intersect at C. Step 3: Join AC and BC using a ruler.

Step 2: With point J as the centre, mark point M such that JM = 5cm. Step 3: With point K and M as the centres and the compasses at 5 cm, draw 2 arcs that intersect at L.

a + w = 180 The angles at the vertices of a polygon are called the b + z = 180 interior angles. c + y = 180 z The angles lie outside of a b polygon are called exterior d + x = 180 angles. y The interior angle and the c exterior angle in a polygon a are supplementary angles, d w 180. x Interior angle + exterior angle = 180

A Polygon is a closed two-dimensional shape with three or more straight lines as its sides. A regular polygons has equal sides and angles. Regular polygons can be drawn by dividing equally the angle at the centre. The number of axes symmetry are equal with the number of sides of polygons. Interior angles are angles at the vertices of a polygon. Exterior angles are angles outside a polygon. Interior angle + exterior angle = 180 (supplementary angles) The sum of interior angles of a polygon = (n 2) x 180, where n is the number of sides. The sum of the exterior angles is 360. Exterior angle of a regular polygon is 360 n
