REMINDERS
Transactions on a CHIP Compliant Terminal If the card has a CHIP, the default should ALWAYS be INSERT THE CARD. If the POS gives a DECLINE or a DO NOT HONOR message, DO NOT even attempt using the magnetic stripe. Magnetic stripe shall be used ONLY if the POS will give a message of SWIPE THE CARD. If the POS prompts for INSERT THE CARD, the processor should examine if the CHIP is PRESENT. If the card has NO CHIP, the processor should not even attempt INSERTING or DIPPING the card. With this scenario, the processor should be alerted to call 88100 for assistance. At this POINT there is a great possibility that the card is a COUNTERFEIT.
