B8200 Board Introduction:

Explanation Description The power module provides power supply for boards. One power module is configured by default. A 1+1 backup is optional. This board integrates environment monitoring and E1 interface functions and provides six input and two output channels of dry contact monitoring. It also provides eight E1/T1 interfaces. It switches media flow and control flow, processes clock signals, and manages subracks. The panel provides GE interfaces (optical and electrical optional) for transmission at the Iub interface. It also provides a GPS antenna interface. One CC is configured by default. A 1+1 backup is optional. This board mainly switches IQ signals. Each board supports six fiber interfaces for the connection with RU modules. Depending on the number of the fiber interfaces required, at most two boards can be configured. GSM and WCDMA use different baseband boards (uBPC or BPC). One uBPC supports 12 TRXs. Located at one side of the subrack, this board is used for heat dissipation.

Interface introduction: Tx0/Rx0 - Tx5/Rx5: It provides the optical interface that connects with RRU. Board functions: It switches baseband I/Q data. It provides the interface between BBU and RRU.

Baseband processing board (BPC)

BPC fulfills the physical layer protocol and frame protocol specified by 3GPP. It performs such functions as downlink service data encoding/multiplexing, rate matching, channel mapping, spread scrambling, power weighting, and channel synthesis. It fulfills RAKE reception and channel decoding of uplink signals. It synchronizes radio links and processes transmission frames. It measures the parameters required for power control and handover. It has softer handover and diversity reception/transmission functions.

B8200 System Configuration

BPC configuration principle One to five BPCs can be configured according to the capacity and number of supported sector carriers. One BPC supports a maximum of six sector carriers. Based on capacity requirements, the number of required BPCs can calculated using the following formula: Definition: A = number of CS12.2 kbit/s subscribers/128 B = number of bidirectional 64 kbit/s subscribers/64 C = number of PS uplink 64 kbit/s and downlink 144 kbit/s subscribers/36 D = number of PS uplink 64 kbit/s and downlink 384 kbit/s subscribers/18 X = reserved HO resource factor. Generally, the value is 0.3. Number of required BPCs = [(A+B+C+D) x (1+X)] ([] mean to round up the value)

The height from the top of the outdoor lightning protection box to the bottom of the support is 870mm. In the outdoor pole-mounting mode, enough space should be reserved for operation and maintenance according to the following requirements: There must be a space of more than 1 m (from the center of the pole) at two or more sides. The distance between the pole center and the wall/equipment must be larger than 600mm if the pole is close to the wall or other equipment.

Outdoor Installation of RRU

Outdoor Installation of RRU - Pole-Mounting Mode

Install the R8840 at the bottom layer during the first phase. It can only be positioned on the end face of the disc-shaped component (The concave surface of the component must face downwards.). Do not make it straddle two disc-shaped components. Install the outdoor lightning protection box on the R8840, with both facing the same direction, as shown in the figures above. Mount M8 bolts into the positioning holes of the pole before installation. Use these bolts to position the discshaped component.

RRU Cable Types

1. DC Power Cable Currently, ZTE delivers many models of DC power cabinets (such as H900, H151, T601, and W121) that are configured with two types of switches: 63A and 32A. It is recommended to connect each RRU set to a 63A switch and connect the B8200 (3G) to a 32A switch during the first-phase installation. If an old DC power supply equipment is used, it is recommended to connect each RRU set to a 63A switch and connect the B8200(3G) to a 32A switch, If the old switch does not meet specifications, replace it with a qualified one.

RRU Cable Types

Outdoor Cabling Requirements The selection of outdoor cables between indoor lightning protection box (one supports three RRUs) and outdoor lightning protection box (one supports two RRUs) should follow the principles below. If the cable length is less than 50m, use 6mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 50m and 145m, use 16mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 50m and 80m, it is also acceptable to use 10mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 145m and 290m, use 16mm2 dedicated two-core cables, but in this case, one outdoor lightning protection box only powers one RRU separately. Configure outdoor lightning protection boxes and outdoor cables as follows after completing the installation of each RRU set. If the outdoor cable length is less than 145m, the 2100M RRU and the 900M RRU should share one outdoor lightning protection box, and two to four 1800M RRUs should share one or two outdoor lightning protection box. In this case, each RRU set requires three outdoor cables. If the site is designed to accomodate UMTS equipment only, each RRU set requires only one outdoor cable. If the outdoor cable length is between 145m and 290m, each outdoor lightning protection box can only support one RRU. In this case, each RRU set requires six outdoor cables. If the site is designed to accomodate UMTS equipment only, each RRU set requires only two outdoor cables. If the cable length between the indoor lightning protection box and the outdoor lightning protection box is more than 290m, it is recommended to position the RRU as close as possible to the B8200 during project survey, and make sure the cabling route is less than 290m. If it is impossible to meet such requirements, give up the site and find a new one. It is required to finish laying outdoor cables once and for all in the first-phase installation. Lay three or six outdoor cables for each RRU set. A surplus cable length of 3-5m should be reserved at the indoor B8200 side for the installation of the indoor lightning protection box during the second phase. The pre-laid cables at the RRU side should also provide a surplus length, and waterproof treatment should be made.

RRU Cable Types

Cabling Requirements in Outdoor Lightning Protection Box The inlet/outlet cables of the outdoor lightning protection box must be sealed by passing through the sealing ring of the box for good leakproofness. If the 16 mm2 outdoor cables cannot pass through the sealing ring, remove it, and then lay the cables. Make sure the cable sequence is correct during the installation of the outdoor lightning protection box, as shown in the figures below.Note: The power cable that connects with the 2100M RRU must pass through the middle cabling hole. The end of the unused cabling hole must be sealed by winding two rounds of PVC insulating tape on it.

Alarm Cable Connections between RRU and Outdoor Lightning Protection Box Connect the alarm cable of the RRU to the outdoor lightning protection box by using the white brown/brown wires at the dry contact 1, as shown in the figure below. Note: Strip off the alarm cable sheath until the wires show their colors (white brown/brown).

RRU Cable Types

5. Grounding Requirements of Outdoor Cables Both ends of each outdoor cable are grounded through the shielding layer of the cable fixed by a metal fastener in the indoor/outdoor lightning protection box. Protective grounding is made to the lightning protection box through grounding cables, and the mental fastener connects with the grounding of the lightning protection box, so no grounding cable is required at both ends of the outdoor cable. The 16mm2 cable cannot pass through the cabling hole on the outdoor lightning protection box until the cable sheath is stripped off. The cable clip in the outdoor lightning protection box can be used to clamp 16mm2 shielding cables. If there is no lightning strip on the roof, it is acceptable to ground the outdoor cable at both sides. No grounding is required in the middle, as shown in the figure below. If there is a lightning strip on the roof, ground the outdoor cable at both sides when the cable length is less than 30m. If the outdoor cable length is more than 30m on the roof, ground it once per 20m.
