Ø PEPSICO, Inc – was formed in 1965 with the merger of Pepsi-Cola company
and Frito-Lay, Inc. .

Ø PepsiCo’s acquisition of KFC in 1986 followed earlier acquisitions of Pizza


Hut and Taco Bell.

Ø Yum! was created on October 7, 1997, as Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. an


independent company, as a result of a spin-off from PepsiCo, which owned
and franchised the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands.
