Question 1: Has Maggie made a good decision about the way she is going to make the decision? Yes, In problem solving or decision making cases personal view is not much effective than group.

Question- 3: Which investment do you think most people would choose? Most people in our country are not well educated. They have a negative expression of taking risk. So I think that most people in our country prefer municipal bond fund to invest money.

Question- 4: Based on what you have learned about Groupshift, which investment do you think Maggies family will choose? * Family
* Friends * Neighbor I think Maggies family will choose mutual fund with a moderate risk. Because when they get two options, they think that it has 50 % chance of making profit $40000. Though it has a chance of losing $20000.Theytake risk for earning more profit.

The Danger of Groupthink

Question-1: What are some factors that led to groupthink in the cases described here? What teams can do to attempt to prevent groupthink from occurring?
A person cant rely on his own belief, he relies on some others opinion. For solving problem. Accepting creative idea led to groupthink. The team can take some initiative to prevent groupthink from occurringAppoint a devils advocate. Encourage everyone to be critical. The leader should not state a preference while starting the discussion. Invite other into group to bring fresh ideas. Use suggestion box.

effective dissenters? Holding top position in Managing sector. Ability to influence any decision.

Question-3: Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says that he encourages dissent. Can such norm guard against the occurrence of groupthink? As a manager, how would you try to cultivate norms that prevent groupthink? Yes I will give all types of freedom for sharing ideas among members. Though diversity of opinion can create some problem but it helps organization to take right decision for solving any problem or situation.

Question-4: How might group characteristics such as size and cohesiveness affect groupthink? Group Size: Smaller groups are faster to groupthink. Large group is more time consuming. Large group size is effective in fact finding & analysis. Productivity of a small group is even better than large group. Large group is affected by social loafing & creates low productivity.

Group Cohesiveness: Group cohesiveness is even better than large group which helps to reach its goal. Cohesiveness encourages group to agree with group decision. Cohesiveness helps to increase the time that members can spend together; it will help to increase more discussion. Cohesiveness provides high productivity.
