JOB SATISFACTION
MEANING:
Job Satisfaction is the feeling an employee gets when the job he does fulfills all his expectations.
DEFINITION:
Job satisfaction is a general attitude towards ones job: the difference between the amount of reward workers receive and the amount they believe they should receive. -P. Robbins

Chennai Port comes under the Ministry of Shipping. Chennai Port Trust consist of 10 Departments.
Secondary Objectives
To know about the satisfaction of the employees towards Pay and Benefits provided at Chennai Port Trust.
To know about employees attitude towards companys policies and procedures. To know the interpersonal relationship existing between the employees of Chennai Port Trust.
To evaluate the satisfaction of the employees regarding the working condition at Chennai Port Trust. To offer valuable suggestions to improve the satisfaction of the employees of Chennai Port Trust.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Design
The present study is descriptive in nature, as it describes data and characteristics about the population or phenomenon that is being studied.
Data collection
For any study there must be data for analysis purpose. Data collection plays an important role in any study. It can be collected from various sources. The data is collected from two sources which are given below: Primary Data (Questionnaire & Personal Observation) Secondary Data (Journals, websites etc.)

Questionnaire is used as my research Instrument (contain 22 questions) which is organized in such a way that elic all the relevant information that is needed for the study.
Statistical Tools
The statistical tools to be used for analyzing the data collected are percentage analysis and chi- square.
Analysis of Data
The collected data are analyzed and interpreted using statistical tools and techniques.

3. 44% of the respondents agree that the company clearly communicates its goals and strategies to them. 4. 44% of the respondents neither agree nor disagree that there is an adequate planning of corporate objectives. 5. 52% of the respondents say that, they are not given wider career opportunities in this organization.

Overall, most of the respondents are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the Chennai Port Trust as an employee.
SUGGESTIONS
To increase the job satisfaction of the employees, the company should concentrate on the following criteria
Performance based salary and wider career opportunities could be given to deserving employees Company should give promotion to those employees who deserve it. As regards the canteen facility, nearly 1/2 of the employees (44%) show dissatisfaction, which requires immediate attention of the Management. Companys working condition could be much improved.
SUGGESTIONS
Management should try to convert unsatisfied employees into satisfied employees. Because if employees are not satisfied then he/she will not be able to give his/her 100% of work and the productivity of the employee decreases. So the management should try to satisfy its employees because employees are the great assets of the organisation.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded that the employees of Chennai Port Trust are partly satisfied with the facilities and amenities provided by the organization. They are happy about the relationship with their superiors and with their peers. The employees also feel that they have adequate job security in view of the additional support and care in which the organization is concentrating apart from the organizations goals and targets.
