Fourth Generation(4G)

Presented By:Dinesh MCA 2st sem 512002

1G wireless technology
Using anolog signals Frequency typically 150Mhz & above Developed in 1980s & completed in early 1990s. Speed up to 2.4kbps. AMPS first launched by US & a 1G mobile system. Allows users to make voice calls in 1 country.

Drawback of 1G
Poor voice quality Poor battery file Large phone size No security Frequency call drops Limited capicity and poor handoff realiability

2G phones using global system for mobile communication were first used in early 1990s in Europen. Fielded in the late 1991s & finished in late 2000s. Speed upto 64 kbps. Digital handsets that are used today. Voice transmission with data signal.

2G wireless Generation

Features of 2G Text Fax Sms

Drawback of 2G

The GSM is a circuit switching connection oriented technology where the end system are dedicated for the entire call session Reduce range of sound Weaker digital sound

3G Wireless Generation
The 3G technology adds multimedia facilities to 2G phones by allowing video, audio, and graphics applications. These phones will have the highest speed of up to 2 Mbps. The speed of 3G dongle is 702mbps Speeds from 125kbps-7.2mbps. Voice calls interpreted using circuit switching. Fast communication,Internet,Mobile T.V,Vedio Conferencing vedio calls,(MMS),3D Gaming etc

Features of 3G
Phone calls/fax Global roaming Send/receive large email messages High speed web Video confrencing Tv streaming 11 Sec - 1.5 min Speed 200kb/s 2 mb/s

Advantage of 3G
High speed data rates More bandwidth, security & relaibility Rich multimedia services Always online devices 3G dongle speed is 7.2mbps

Disadvantage of 3G
Expanse of 3G phone Wireless services Expensive input fees for the 3G Services licences Large call phone It is a challenge to build the necessary

What is 4G
Faster and more relaible 100 mbps Lower cost than previous generation Multi-standard wireless system Bluetooth, wifi Coverage of wide area Only packet switching used unlike previous generation

3G vs 4G
specifications Top speed Switching Data rate Bandwidth Frequency band Access 3G 2kbps Circuit/packet Up to 2mbps 5-20MHz 1.5-2.8GHz Wideband CDMA 4G 200kbps Packet 20mbps/more 5-20MHz 2-8GHz CDMA

Advantage of 4G
High usability anytime, anywhere and with any technology Support for multimedia services and low transmission cost High bandwidth, Tight network security

Disadvantage of 4G
The equipment to implement a next generation a next generation network is still very expansive
