Manages process of moving application software components from development to production Concurrent development Multiple testing levels/environments Auditing capabilities Multiple approval levels

The Change Management Process involves the following steps:

1) Creating the Package 2) Checking out the Components 3) Staging the Components 4) Promoting the Package 5) Auditing the Package 6) Freezing the Package 7) Approving the Package

Work area that will carry the changes from development to production. All information needed to install a particular change to the production environment-grouped together to form a change package

Information required to create a package:

Application Type (Simple, Participating, Super or Complex) Planned or unplanned Temporary or permanent Installation date & time Primary and backup contacts

Simple: Changes are unrelated to other packages. Participating: Changes are related to other packages. Complex: Contains one or more participating packages. Change in one package is used by other packages.
eg. Copybook change is required by other programs in another

Does not contain components. Super: Same as complex
