ZXWR B8200
Signal loss in feeders will result in degraded coverage performance. The 2G Hz radio frequency signal travels in feeders at a loss of 7dB/100m, and 900M Hz 4dB/100m. Generally, the feeder length of 3G sites is 50 meters, with a signal loss of about 4dB. RRU makes RF be possibly closest to the antenna to minimize the signal loss in feeders. By using BBU+RRU, signal loss in feeders can be reduced to less than 1dB.

RRU Installation
RRU Installation
RRU supports two installation modes: outdoor and indoor. In the outdoor mode, the distance between RRU and antenna should be less than 5m if the RRU has only one antenna, or 20m if the RRU has more than one antenna, or should meet the design rquirements. In the indoor mode, the distance between RRU and antenna should be less than 20m or shoule meet the design requirements. Install only one UMTS 2100M R8840 for each set of RRU in the first phase, and one 900M R8860 and one to four 1800M R8860s in the second phase. RRU Dimensions:
Equipment R8840
R8860
Weight 16.5kg
22.5kg
Note: The RRU must be placed vertically with its ports facing downwards. Never place it horizontally.
When installing the RRU on an outdoor antenna feeder plane, there are several mounting modes as follows: Wall-mounting (preferred); Pole-mounting or L type-mounting; Flexible mounting according to the on-site conditions. Consider full configurations for each set of RRU: Six RRUs + three or six outdoor lightning protection boxes (one lightning protection box supports two RRUs) + two combiners + two 3dB bridges Where, the combiners and bridges are used at the shared stage of the existing network. After cutover, the combiners should be removed. Whether the bridges should be removed or not depends on the practical situations. Dimensions of Pole and Lightning Protection Box

Equipment Indoor Lightning Protection Box Outdoor Lightning Protection Box RRU Pole
Outdoor Installation of RRU - Wall-Mounting Mode Full configurations of each RRU: six RRUs + three or six outdoor lightning protection boxes. Mount all these nine pieces of equipment on the wall individually. Only one R8840 is installed in the first phase of installation, so a dummy box is required to take a position for an RRU that will be installed in the second phase, at the end of which there will be six true and dummy RRUs. Installation requirements: A space of 250mm high is required above the RRU for heat dissipation. There should be no object that affects normal outlets or connections in the 250mm installation space under the RRU. When mounting RRU and outdoor lightning protection box on the wall, do not use the included expansion bolts. Buy and use HILTI stainless steel bolts instead.
Outdoor Installation of RRU - Wall-Mounting Mode The figures below show the wall-mounted RRUs of the minimum installation dimensions. The layout may be adjusted according to the wall conditions at each site.
Outdoor Installation of RRU - Pole-Mounting Mode Installation Dimensions: First phase: The height from the top of the R8840 to the bottom of the support is 790mm. The height from the top of the outdoor lightning protection box to the bottom of the support is 870mm. In the outdoor pole-mounting mode, enough space should be reserved for operation and maintenance according to the following requirements: There must be a space of more than 1 m (from the center of the pole) at two or more sides. The distance between the pole center and the wall/equipment must be larger than 600mm if the pole is close to the wall or other equipment.
Outdoor Installation of RRU - Pole-Mounting Mode Installation of Concrete Pier under RRU Support: The construction workers should pour the concrete pier according to the practical on-site situations. Consider the bearing capacity of the floor when positioning the concrete pier based on the structure design drawings. Dimensions of concrete pier: 800mm800mm150mm The grade of the precast concrete pier is C20, with a cement/mortar ratio of 1:3. Try to keep a flat upper surface and avoid destroying the waterproof layer of the roof when pouring the concret pier. Make holes on the concret pier after it completely solidifies. M20 expansion bolts must be used to secure the pole.
Install the R8840 at the bottom layer during the first phase. It can only be positioned on the end face of the disc-shaped component (The concave surface of the component must face downwards.). Do not make it straddle two disc-shaped components. Install the outdoor lightning protection box on the R8840, with both facing the same direction, as shown in the figures above. Mount M8 bolts into the positioning holes of the pole before installation. Use these bolts to position the discshaped component.
Install two 1800M R8860s, one 900M R8860, and one outdoor lightning protection box during the second phase. Position these three R8860s at the bottom layer, with the two 1800M R8860s being adjacent. Install the outdoor lightning protection box opposite to the one installed in the first phase.
Introduce the MIMO technology into the third phase. Install one 2100M R8840, one 900M R8860, and one outdoor lightning protection box. Install the outdoor lightning protection box at the top layer, facing the same direction as the one installed in the first phase. Install the two RRUs symmetrically at the same layer, as shown in the figures above. The outdoor lightning protection box can only be positioned on the end face of the disc-shaped component (The concave surface of the component must face downwards.). Do not make it straddle two discshaped components.
Installation requirements: There should be no object that affects normal outlets or connections in the 250mm installation space under the RRU.
When installing the RRU indoors, configure six RRUs, one DC power distribution box (one DC power distribution box supports six RRUs), and one combiner/bridge for each set. Indoor or outdoor lightning protection boxes are not required. Each RRU set needs one DC power distribution box MCB (One DC power distribution box supports six RRUs. The rated current of the MCB switch should be higher than 16A). Use 25mm2 blue black power cables to connect the DC power distribution cabinet with each DC power distribution box. Install a grounding bar besides each RRU set. If two RRU sets are close to each other (less than 3m), they can share a grounding bar. Connect the protective ground of the MCB to the RRU grounding bar by using 16mm2 yellow green grounding cables. Generally, there are two modes to install the RRU indoors: Wall mounting is preferred. If the wall is too thin (or made of sand or wood) to provide enough bearing capacity, it is recommended to make a back-to-wall support on site. Refer to the wall-mounting BBUB above. If wall mounting is impossible, it is also acceptable to use a floorstanding mounting support that can bear four RRUs. Mount the MCB on the nearest wall.
Indoor Installation of RRU - Wall-Mounting Mode The figures below show the wall-mounted RRUs of the minimum installation dimensions. The layout may be adjusted according to the wall conditions at each site. A space of 250mm high is required above the RRU for heat dissipation. There should be no object that affects normal outlets or connections in the 250mm installation space under the RRU.
Indoor Installation of RRU - Floorstanding Mounting Support (Portal Rack) The dimensions of the floorstanding mounting support that bears four RRUs are 450mm600mm1600mm (WDH). Note: if it is impossible to mount expansion bolts into the indoor floor, construction workers should take suitable actions to secure the installation.

Portal rack positioning: The front edge of the base should be flush with that of the existing devices in the equipment room, with a distance of 10cm away from adjacent devices on both sides. Install the base by using different modes that are suitable for the equipment room conditions. Use tapping screws when installing it in a shelter or expansion screws in a normal equipment room. For the convenience of cabling, it is not recommended to mount the cover-like component at the top of the portal rack. It is required to drill holes at the lower (rear side) part of the portal rack pillar for the installation of grounding bar. Such holes should be 13cm away from the base, and the lower edge of the grounding bar should be 10cm from the base. See the figure on the right.
Mount the grounding bar on the inner side of the portal rack pillar.
The lower edge of the grounding bar should be 10 cm away from the base.

The front edge of the base should be flush with that of the existing devices.
Universal wall-mounting parts are indispensable for R8840 installation in both wall-mounting and support-mounting modes. Insulating bed plates and insulating rubber rings must be used in assembly for the installation of universal wall-mounting parts. Installation Steps For portal rack-mounting mode: Bolt - insulating rubber ring universal wall-mounting part - insulating bed plate - portal rack - flat washer - spring washer - nut. For wall-mounting mode: Nut - flat washer - spring washer insulating rubber ring - universal wall-mounting part - insulating bed plate - expansion screw - wall.

1. DC Power Cable Currently, ZTE delivers many models of DC power cabinets (such as H900, H151, T601, and W121) that are configured with two types of switches: 63A and 32A. It is recommended to connect each RRU set to a 63A switch and connect the B8200 (3G) to a 32A switch during the first-phase installation. If an old DC power supply equipment is used, it is recommended to connect each RRU set to a 63A switch and connect the B8200(3G) to a 32A switch, If the old switch does not meet specifications, replace it with a qualified one.
Outdoor Cabling Requirements The selection of outdoor cables between indoor lightning protection box (one supports three RRUs) and outdoor lightning protection box (one supports two RRUs) should follow the principles below. If the cable length is less than 50m, use 6mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 50m and 145m, use 16mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 50m and 80m, it is also acceptable to use 10mm2 dedicated two-core cables. If the cable length is between 145m and 290m, use 16mm2 dedicated two-core cables, but in this case, one outdoor lightning protection box only powers one RRU separately. Configure outdoor lightning protection boxes and outdoor cables as follows after completing the installation of each RRU set. If the outdoor cable length is less than 145m, the 2100M RRU and the 900M RRU should share one outdoor lightning protection box, and two to four 1800M RRUs should share one or two outdoor lightning protection box. In this case, each RRU set requires three outdoor cables. If the site is designed to accomodate UMTS equipment only, each RRU set requires only one outdoor cable. If the outdoor cable length is between 145m and 290m, each outdoor lightning protection box can only support one RRU. In this case, each RRU set requires six outdoor cables. If the site is designed to accomodate UMTS equipment only, each RRU set requires only two outdoor cables. If the cable length between the indoor lightning protection box and the outdoor lightning protection box is more than 290m, it is recommended to position the RRU as close as possible to the B8200 during project survey, and make sure the cabling route is less than 290m. If it is impossible to meet such requirements, give up the site and find a new one. It is required to finish laying outdoor cables once and for all in the first-phase installation. Lay three or six outdoor cables for each RRU set. A surplus cable length of 3-5m should be reserved at the indoor B8200 side for the installation of the indoor lightning protection box during the second phase. The pre-laid cables at the RRU side should also provide a surplus length, and waterproof treatment should be made.
Cabling Requirements in Outdoor Lightning Protection Box The inlet/outlet cables of the outdoor lightning protection box must be sealed by passing through the sealing ring of the box for good leakproofness. If the 16 mm2 outdoor cables cannot pass through the sealing ring, remove it, and then lay the cables. Make sure the cable sequence is correct during the installation of the outdoor lightning protection box, as shown in the figures below.Note: The power cable that connects with the 2100M RRU must pass through the middle cabling hole. The end of the unused cabling hole must be sealed by winding two rounds of PVC insulating tape on it.

2. Outdoor Optical Fiber Configure optical fibers as follows after completing the installation of each RRU set. UMTS 2100M: 1 piece UMTS/GSM 900M: 1 piece GSM 1800M: 1 or 2 pieces Standby optical fiber: 1 piece Generally, lay five optical fibers for each RRU set. It is required to finish laying outdoor optical fibers once and for all in the first-phase installation. Lay five outdoor optical fibers for each RRU set. Coil up the surplus length of optical fibers and place them at the RRU side. A surplus optical fiber length of 3-5m should be reserved at the B8200 side for the installation of the B8200 during the second phase. Waterproof treatment should be made to the pre-laid optical fibers. If the site is designed to accomodate UMTS equipment only, each RRU set requires only three outdoor optical fibers. Each optical fiber must be tested by using optical multimeter before and after laying. Fill the detailed test results accurately into the Outdoor Fiber Test Record. Use optical multimeter to test the loop-back loss of the optical fibers. The optical fibers are in good condition if the loop-back loss is less than 1dB; otherwise, find out the reason or lay the optical fibers again. Do not lay the outdoor optical fibers at the places where they will possibly be trampled frequently. Otherwise, mount rigid PVC troughs or trough covers to protect the optical fibers. Both ends of the connectors of any pre-laid or unused outdoor optical fiber must be equipped with protective caps. Never touch any optical fiber connector with bare hand. Waterproof treatment must be made to the outdoor connectors.
3. " Jumper The " jumper (left) and the 7/8" jumper (right) are shown below.
Technical requirements: 1. See the figure above for the length. 2. It is recommended to use 37-core connector CT48A - 37TY from JONHON Optronic. Terminate the cable by soldering, which must be secure. No dry soldering is acceptable. 3. Print and paste the bar code labels according to the general requirements specified in ZTE Cable Component Design Specifications - Design and Use Requirements of Bar Codes. 4. Alarm Cable Connections between RRU and Outdoor Lightning Protection Box Connect the alarm cable of the RRU to the outdoor lightning protection box by using the white brown/brown wires at the dry contact 1, as shown in the figure below. Note: Strip off the alarm cable sheath until the wires show their colors (white brown/brown).
5. Grounding Requirements of Outdoor Cables Both ends of each outdoor cable are grounded through the shielding layer of the cable fixed by a metal fastener in the indoor/outdoor lightning protection box. Protective grounding is made to the lightning protection box through grounding cables, and the mental fastener connects with the grounding of the lightning protection box, so no grounding cable is required at both ends of the outdoor cable. The 16mm2 cable cannot pass through the cabling hole on the outdoor lightning protection box until the cable sheath is stripped off. The cable clip in the outdoor lightning protection box can be used to clamp 16mm2 shielding cables. If there is no lightning strip on the roof, it is acceptable to ground the outdoor cable at both sides. No grounding is required in the middle, as shown in the figure below. If there is a lightning strip on the roof, ground the outdoor cable at both sides when the cable length is less than 30m. If the outdoor cable length is more than 30m on the roof, ground it once per 20m.
