ASSESSMENT

Assessment strategies and tools form the basis of a comprehensive approach to assessment and represent the schools answer to the question How will we know what we have learned?

The strategies are the methods or approaches that teachers use when gathering information about a students learning. Teachers record this information using a variety of tools, which are the instruments used to collect data.

2. Reporting How do we choose to communicate information about assessment?

Effective reporting should:


involve parents, students and teachers as partners. reflect what the school community values. be comprehensive, honest, fair and credible. be clear and understandable to all parties. allow teachers to incorporate what they learn during the reporting process into their future teaching and assessment practice.

The purpose of conferences is to share information between teachers, students and parents

The written report is designed to provide parents with a comprehensive guide to their childs development.

Written Reports

The student reports will: be provided at least twice per year; be timely; be in plain language to be readily understood by parents and guardians; be confidential; maintain the privacy of students; be followed by opportunity for discussion between the child, parents/guardians and teachers; give constructive advice about supporting the childs further progress at school;
