New-Zealand

Geography
An island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Area:- 268,021 km2 . It is located near Water Hemisphere. Two main islands and a number of smaller islands. North & South island are seperated by Cook Strait.

Climate & Biodiversity


New Zealand has a mild and temperate maritime climate. New Zealand is the only country in the world with every climate type. Island biogeography is responsible for the country's unique species of animals, fungi and plants.

There are almost no poisonous or dangerous animals in the wild (the Katipo spider is venomous but not deadly).
There are more flightless bird species than anywhere else.

Demographic
Population approx. 4.4 million. Life expectancy : 82.4 years for females, and 78.4 years for males. 67.6% - European. 14.6% - Mori. 9.2% - Asian. 6.9% - Pacific People. Languages: 98% - English. 3.5% - Mori followed by French, Hindi & Yue. 0.6% - New Zealand Sign Language is 2nd official language.

Primary and secondary schooling is compulsory.
New Zealand has an adult literacy rate of 99 percent. New Zealand education system as the 7th best in the world.

Religion
55.6% of the population are Christian. Other significant minority religions include Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.

Economy
Prosperous and developed market economy.

New Zealand is heavily dependent on international trade.


New Zealand Export wool, diary products, wine and so on. Tourism plays a significant role in New Zealand's economy.

Sports
Golf, netball, tennis and cricket are the four top participatory sports. New Zealand's national rugby union team is often regarded as the best in the world. New Zealand is known for its extreme sports, adventure tourism. Polynesian sport of waka ama racing has increased popularity.
