British Invasion (e.g. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who) Folk grew up in USA and Canada(e.g. Bob Dylan, The Mamas & The Papas) Psychedelic uses nice effects to the ears with surreal stuff. (e.g. Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplaine, Cream, The Doors, The Byrds, Yardbirds, Yes, King Crimson)

Blues Rock with bands such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, Deep Purple, The Doors Progressive, developed from psychelic. In late 60s started a separation between the soft and hard rock
