What season is this when the wheat fields are ripe with grain? What is the weather like?

Farming in Israel.
When the Israelites settled in Canaan after leaving their life of slavery in Egypt, farming became a more important way of making a living for them. Grains, such as wheat and barley, were used for making bread, and were the most important crop. Grains, as well as lentils and peas, are known to have been cultivated in Palestine since prehistoric times. Unlike farmers in Egypt and Mesopotamia, Israelite farmers did not need to depend on irrigation for water. Even though the rainy season in Palestine was rather short and the soil was often rocky, the farmers' know-how in clearing and fertilizing the land usually produced fine crops. The Israelite farmers learned how to grow crops according to the yearly cycle of rainy and dry spells. They also learned to adjust the crops to what was best for the different kinds of land: fertile plains, rocky hills, and semibarren areas. As time went on, their knowledge as farmers helped them to grow fruits, including melons, figs, dates, grapes, and olives.

According to Jewish law, the operation of a motor vehicle constitutes multiple violations of the prohibited activities on Shabbat. Though Jewish law is based on texts that existed long before the existence of the automobile, various writings prohibit during Shabbat the actions that take place as a result of driving. The Torah thus prohibits driving on the basis that a labour is being performed by the act of operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle's ignition combusts fuel, which by some is considered to violate one of the 39 prohibited activities on Shabbat, as well as creating a spark, which is likewise considered to violate a related rabbinic prohibition. ("Igniting a fire"). Isaiah 58:13-14 speaks out against travel during Shabbat[citation needed]. Modern vehicles also have many other electrical components, such as lights, that are continually turned on and off during the course of a vehicle's operation, often without the driver's awareness. Besides, the laws of Shabbat place limits on the distance one may travel beyond the city/town where one is spending Shabbat, regardless of the method of transportation.
However, Jews of varying backgrounds have taken differing views on the matter, either finding various interpretations to permit and justify at least some driving on Shabbat, either solely for synagogue attendance or for other personal reasons as well, or else by disregarding the Jewish laws altogether. Some feel that driving involves less effort than walking. Others feel that those who live too far from a synagogue would be cut off from religious life altogether if they do not drive to reach the synagogue, and the benefits outweigh full Shabbat observance.

The Twelve Apostles (6:12-16)

Jesus

spent the night in prayer before choosing the 12. Apostle one sent forth.

Now versus future

"Happy are you poor; the Kingdom of God is yours! "Happy are you who are hungry now; you will be filled! Happy are you who weep now; you will laugh! "Happy are you when people hate you, reject you, insult you, and say that you are evil, all because of the Son of Man!

"But how terrible for you who are rich now; you have had your easy life! How terrible for you who are full now; you will go hungry! "How terrible for you who laugh now; you will mourn and weep! How terrible when all people speak well of you; their ancestors said the very same things about the false prophets

Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven. For their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets. (Lk 6:27)

How many groups of people?

Beatitudes & Woes (6:20-49)

Note the four beatitudes. Poor (v20):Of humble mind receiving Gods word in a teachable spirit. Hunger (v21a): after righteousness(Matthew). Persecutions (v22) Analysis of the Sermon (pg 80marshall) 1. The Beatitudes are regarding the kingdom who is it for . 2. The principles upon which the Kingdom is founded LOVE. 3. The basis of the Kingdom - CHRIST

Where would Jesus stand? Seemingly discrepancy between Matthew sermon on the mount and Lukes sermon on a level place

Culture of the Kingdom of God vs culture of the world

Your enemies those who hate you, who curse you, and who mistreat you. If anyone hits you on one cheek,; if someone takes your coat,. who asks you for something, and when someone takes what is yours,. Do for others just what you want them to do for you. "If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing?

Even

Love do good bless those pray for those let him hit the other one too let him have your shirt as well Give to everyone

sinners love those who love them!

And

if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners do that!
Even

sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount!

And if you lend only to those from whom you hope to get it back, why should you receive a blessing?

do not ask for it back

How many types of problematic people did Jesus mention? Who are they?

Loving our enemies involve some actions. Name three actions Jesus mentioned How is the culture of those who obey Jesus different from the culture of the world? Name three ways

Do good, bless them, pray for them World only loves those who loves them, only do good to those who do good to them, lend to those they can get back something from Christians love those who hate them, do good to those who cant or wont do good to them, lend to those they cant expect to return.

Sermon on the plain (an exercise)

Name the three groups of people who witnessed Jesus teaching on the plain Give 3 reasons why the people came to Jesus? What 4 conditions did Jesus consider it happy to have? Why?

Apostles, disciples, people Hear him, be healed and to be delivered of evil spirits Poor, hungry, weep and hated by people KOG is theirs, filled, laugh, great reward in heaven

Shirt or Tunic (6:29)

How do you know if a tree is healthy? How do you know if a person is good? How do you ensure good things are stored in a persons heart? Name one way to find out what is in a mans heart?
Are you a healthy or a poor tree?

Bear good fruits

Bear good fruits

Treasure good things in his heart How can that happen? Focus on the good things, remember the good things and not the bad things Listen to what he speaks spontaneously and when under pressure.

(Luk 6:46) "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and yet don't do what I tell you? (Luk 6:47) Anyone who comes to me and listens to my words and obeys them---I will show you what he is like. (Luk 6:48) He is like a man who, in building his house, dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. The river flooded over and hit that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. (Luk 6:49) But anyone who hears my words and does not obey them is like a man who built his house without laying a foundation; when the flood hit that house it fell at once---and what a terrible crash that was!"

Words
First person to receive a note & pass the word around from the first to the last one. Last person to write down what was heard. Check how the word has changed.

Words have effect on us. They can make or break us. Jesus word is powerful as seen from 7:1-10. It depicts faith on the part of the Centurion and also the power of the Lords word.

Words Message still intact?

Uncle Lee and some youth visited Minyak Beku Resort to check. But seemed it has already been fully booked.

Sabbath

What incidents happen to show Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath Scenario : You are asked to do a part-time waiters job in Shangri-la Hotel on Sunday. The overtime pay is 3x the usual rate! Would you take up the job and why? Scenario: Your parents asked you to look after your sick grandmother on Sunday. Would you? Why? What is our motivation for doing the work on Sunday? What sort of work can we do on Sunday and still please God?

Luke 6: 12- 16

Twelve Apostles

(Luk 6:12) At that time Jesus went up a hill to pray and spent the whole night there praying to God.

(Luk 6:13) When day came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he named apostles:
(Luk 6:14) Simon (whom he named Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, (Luk 6:15) Matthew and Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon (who was called the Patriot), (Luk 6:16) Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became the traitor.

Sir, dont trouble yourself. I do not deserve to have you come into my house;Just give the order, and my servant will get well.

Why was his faith great?(7:1-10)

He recognised the power of Jesus in the invisible world. Just issue the command & the invisible power will obey. Contrast it with The disciples waking Jesus in the storm(8:25) The people of Nazareth (Mark 6:6)

John the Baptist in jail (7:18-35)

A strange question: Are you the one John said was going to come, or should we expect someone else? Four possible reasons: 1. Time for Jesus to reveal Himself 2. To satisfy his own disciples 3. Is Jesus the same person he baptised? 4. Tried by imprisonment, he doubted
Jesus replied (v22) about the things they ought to look for in the Messiah. This passage is a Messianic prophecy. Jesus exhibits proofs of its fulfillment in Him. To the Baptist in prison these signs would be particularly helpful, far more than a declaration from our Lord. Nothing would help him like facts. (Marshall pg83)

Makan with Simon the Pharisee (7:36-49) Now take a break listen to this song.

She Came Wasting Trevor Haug

She came wasting / Pouring out perfume and tears She came loving /Wiping Your feet with her hair Her story is told /Wherever gospel will go She took one chance /To worship You with extravagance
And the house was filled with the fragrance Of the sacrifice of the shameless She came wasting She came loving She came giving all

She Came Wasting Trevor Haug

5.

Who do you think that it is wasting? Why do you think she shed tears at Jesus feet? Do you think it demands a lot for her to do what she did? Why? Why was the word extravagance* used? What is the application for us in this day and age?

*Extravagant: Given to lavish or imprudent expenditure; exceeding reasonable bounds; excessive; unrestrained.

customs (pg 86)

Water to wash the dusty & hot feet - tears Kiss of peace as the ordinary salutation of respect kiss Jesus feet Anointing head with oil ie exceptional mark of honour anoint feet with perfume/ointment
Lesson

on parable of the two debtors

The forgiving of our sins by God is valued by us in proportion to our sense of sin. Our perception of the greatness of Gods love and our love to God is in the same ratio. (1st debtor. 500 pence the woman 2nd debtor, 50 pence Simon)

Now you do this
