Aim of module
The aim of this module is to enable students to:
Appreciate management theory and its underpinning of professional practice and organisational structures Understand the concept of economics, financial control and their application to practice Appreciate the role of human resources management Describe and appreciate personnel and management legislation relevant to practice

Lectures and workshops


Workshops are designed to ensure practice of skills gained and required to be leaders of the future Combination of HR, Finance, management theory, employment law and marketing

Why?
Once you graduate and qualify, you will be a leader in your dispensary or workplace, needing to motivate and engage your team. Although you may not be a manager, focus on finance and business is key to success

50% examination 50 % course work
15% Human Resources assignment (1800words) 20%PBL Group Project Report Business Plan 5% PBL Group Business Plan Presentation 10% Individual critique of business plan (500 words)

Week 22 on line submission. Deadline 11pm 21st February

Business Plan - PBL Group Project written report


Week 24 submit to coursework office by close on Thursday 7th March

Business Plan individual critique


Week 25 on line submission. Deadline 11pm Thursday 14th March

Business Plan PBL Group Project presentations


Week 26 Monday 18th March.

Individual Critique

PBL group Presentation


Invited to make an oral presentation to an expert panel to obtain funding Aka Dragons Den Make sure you pick the right person/persons Who can sell the business concept? Expect 20 mins per group with 10 mins questions from the panel NOT a full presentation of your whole project!!! ALL of the group are required to attend

Feedback from assignments


We will always endeavour to release your marks within the guidelines. However, please be aware that if a number of students are granted an extension this may be delayed. We will ensure all feedback is given prior to the examination period.

All extensions must be requested through the authorised routes through the Programme tutor and Module Leads.
N.B. Due to the nature of the assessment we will not be able to provide extensions for the PBL work, as this must be handed in prior to the Dragons Den Presentations
