• Removable storage is data storage


that can be use to store or backup
our data.
• We can easily carry data anywhere
and anytime.

FLOPPY DISK

• the first types of storage devices


• It can hold up 160 kB to 1.44 MB of data
• The floppy came in two different sizes (5.25”
and the 3.5”)
• There were several problems with floppy disks
that included limited storage, limited use and
very easy to lose or damage.

EXTERNAL HARD DISK

• It was possible to store more data compare to a


floppy drive.
• The first hard drives started with a storage capacity of
about 10MB (10 floppy disks).
• now have storage capabilities into the gigabyte and
beyond range (80GB, 100GB, etc).

CD-ROM

• A CD-ROM drive or disk combined the best features of


a hard drive and a floppy.
• It allowed us to same a large amount of data.
• It is still widely used as a storage for MP3s, video,
pictures or computer application (games for PS3,
Xbox, Wii, etc).

• We think of movies when we heard a DVD


• We can save more data by using a DVD compare to
a CD-ROM
• DVD (4.7GB or more) can hold more than a CD-
ROM (700MB)
• We need to have a DVD player to play it.

FLASH DRIVE

• It is also called a pendrive, thumb drives, USB drive


or memory stick.
• It is small in size and can be carried easily.
• It can hold 512 MB to 8 GB
• We can plug it into the USB port of a computer and
laptops similar to External Hard drives (Hard disk).
• It is also used for file backup or transfer.

CLASSWORK ACTIVITY

• Find a folder called “ 20 April 2009 ” on the desktop. Then


double click to open. Click on “classwork” document.
• Fill in both of your name and class you are study in.
• You can discuss the answers with your partners, but
remember to type in your answers in complete spelling /
sentences.
• Once finish, SAVE the document by clicking on: File > Save
As (Type your name and class).
• Finally, put your PENDRIVE / FLOPPY DISK into the
computer USB and copy the “20 April 2009” folder to your
own pendrive or floppy disk. BACK
