Thirty Ways to

enhance your brain power!

The brain is a three-pound supercomputer. It is the command and control center running your life.
It is involved in absolutely everything you do.

Your brain determines how you think, how you feel, how you act, and how well you get along with other people.

Your brain even determines the kind of person you are. It determines how thoughtful you are; how polite or how rude you are.

It determines how well you think on your feet, and it is involved with how well you do at work and with your family.

Your brain also influences your emotional well being and your romantic life.

A psychiatrist, Dr. Daniel Amen, lists the thirty most important ways to care for and enhance your brain.

Foundational to the thirty recommendations he makes, is the basic physical care of the brain. He says that we must wear protective head gear in all high risk environments or situations.

1. Drink lots of water.

2. Eat healthilyevery day!

3. Take gingko biloba and Vitamin E everyday.

4. Think positive healthy thoughts.

Think happy thoughts, and good things will happen!

5. Rid yourself of ANTs (automatic negative thoughts).

6. Watch a happy movie

7. Spend time with positive, uplifting people.

8. Spend time with people you want to be like (since you are more likely to become like the people with whom you associate)!

Dr. Amens 18/40/60 rationale: When youre 18, you worry about what everybody thinks.

When youre 40, you dont care what anybody thinks!

And, when youre sixty, you realize no ones been thinking much about you anyway!

17. Effectively confront and deal with conflictual situations.

18. Develop clear goals for your life (relationships, work, money, and self), and look at them everyday.

19. Focus on what you like a lot more than what you don't like.

20. Have meaning, purpose, excitement, and stimulation in your life!

21. Notice when you're stuck, distract yourself, and come back to the problem later.

22. Write out options and possible solutions when you feel stuck.

23. Seek the counsel of others when you feel stuck. (Often just talking about feeling stuck will open new options.)

24. Enhance your memory skills.

25. Sing and hum whenever you can.

26. Make beautiful music a part of your life.

27. Make beautiful smells a part of your life.

28. Touch others often (appropri ately!).

29. Take medications when needed.

30. Move rhythmically.
