Bad News Message Usually in Indirect Order


Five goals are clearly a lot to accomplish in one message. However, by learning some simple techniques, you can develop negative messages that reduce the stress for everyone involved and improve the effectiveness of your communication efforts.

Brief Review of a Procedure for a Refused Request


Preliminary considerations: The news is bad. The reader wants something; you must refuse. Your goals are:

to say no, and to maintain goodwill.

The first goal is easy; the second requires tact. You must present reasons that will convince.

Indirect Plan for Bad News


The message plan: Openin g Body Begin with words that identify the subject, are neutral, and set up the message. Present reasons using positive language and you-viewpoint. Refuse clearly and positively, embedding where possible to deemphasize the negative. Include a counterproposal or Closing compromise when appropriate. End with an adapted goodwill comment.

Making Negative Announcements


Match your approach to the situation. Consider the unique needs of each group. Plan the sequence of multiple announcements. Give yourself enough time to plan and manage a response. Look for positive angles but don't exude false optimism. Minimize the element of surprise whenever possible. Seek expert advice if you're not sure.

The primary and key strength of Mountain Dew is that its is the brand of one of the strongest and globally recognized company that is PepsiCo. Since, the mother brand is so strong, it helped Mountain Dew a lot in creating is name in the beverage industry. It also increases the credibility of the Mountain Dew.

WEAKNESSES
The increasing inflation rate in Pakistan may result in an upcoming weakness for Mountain Dew. Secondly, fragmentation in the beverage industry of Pakistan is another weakness. Thirdly, and most importantly, Mountain Dews fame can hurt the credibility of the mother brand, Pepsi.

One of the best opportunity for Mountain Dew is that the people are now fed up of ordinary colas and other existing CSDs, hence strongly moving their interest towards the citrus segment like Mountain Dew, sprite 3G etc. another opportunity is that the income of consumers in high enabling them to be less price sensitive, and convenience is becoming important to many countries arround the world.

the biggest threat for mountain Dew is the competition threat from sprite 3G and other energy drinks like red bull, energy etc. Before Sprite 3G, Mountain Dew enjoyed the monopoly in the citrus segment of CSDs industry. Now, the competition is very high between the two brands. Secondly, from the Pepsis perspective, Mountain Dew can be a threat for the mother brand.

Pepsi is a well renowned company and it has maintained its position well by understanding the client psychology, by introducing ingenuity in product base, by keeping economic factors in view and by intense and jazzy advertisements.
