What makes up SWOT?
Strengths
 Positive tangible and intangible attributes, internal to an organization.
 They are within the organization’s control.
W eakness
 Factors that are within an organization’s control that detract from its ability
to attain the desired goal.
 Which areas might the organization improve?
O pportunities
 External attractive factors that represent the reason for an organization to
exist and develop.
 What opportunities exist in the environment, which will propel the
organization?
Identify them by their “time frames”
T hreats
 External factors, beyond an organization’s control, which could place the
organization mission or operation at risk.
 The organization may benefit by having contingency plans to address
them if they should occur.
 Classify them by their “seriousness” and “probability of occurrence”.
SWOT Analysis is…
 A tool for auditing an organization and its environment
 First stage of planning; helps to focus on key issues
 Role of SWOT is to take the information from the
environmental scan and separate it into internal and
external issues.
 Once this is completed, SWOT determines if the
information indicates something that will assist the
organization in accomplishing its objectives or if it
indicates an obstacle that must be overcome or
minimized to achieve desired results

 Lahore University of Education, established on September
10, 2002, is the first specialized university in the field of
Education in Pakistan.

Division of education
 The Division of Education consisting of prominent scholars
plays a significant role in the overall working of the UE. As a
centre of quality research, it performs the missionary task of
developing leaders in education and innovative indigenous
teaching-learning processes. Currently, this Division focuses
research on emerging areas of teacher education, educational
administration, curriculum, assessment, ICT-directed learning
and state policies. The Division provides research-based
academic service to the government and community in teacher
development. programmes
