Mission Statement
To bring together the Pre-
Professional students of Canisius
College through academic learning
and excellence, social gathering, and
communal volunteering. Also to
expose undergraduates to health
fields that include but are not limited
to medical, dental, pharmacy,
veterinary and other public health
careers.
History
• SPHP once existed here at Canisius
roughly 5-6 years ago under the
advisement of Dr. Susan Aronica. In
that time the Society, arranged for
Doctors to come and speak to
students about their specific specialty,
the club also exposed students to the
medical field by allowing them to
shadow health-professionals in their
career path. Students also received
advisement in building their resume
Agenda

Class and Community Project in a
department
• Community Service and Volunteering
Opportunities (J.Gustke)
• ANGEL page being constructed
• Social Event -Lastertron/Paintball in
the future-
• Display Logos and idea of fleece later
on
• Community Day April 18th
What we plan to do
• Idea of Community Service Hours:
One hour = 5 points of Honor

Freshman need 200 pts to achieve full


Excellence
Sophomores need 150 pts to achieve full
Excellence
Juniors need 100 points to achieve full
Excellence
Seniors need 50 points to achieve full
Graduation Recognition
• Achievement of Honor (0-150 pts) = Pin w/
SPHP Seal

• Achievement of Success (151-300) = Above


+ Honor
Cords

• Achievement of Prestige (301-500) = Above


+ Stole
Events and Activities
• We soon will be implementing a program
in which cards will be sent out to medical
facilities and doctors asking if they would
like to come in to discuss their specialty
and/or if they are open to students
shadowing

• Another event we have scheduled in


April is Dr. Andrew Cappuccino and his
wife, Helen are coming to speak to us
about their work. He worked on Kevin
