Algas verdes microscopicas. Chlamydomonas y Volvox (organismos modelo). Indicadores paleoecolgicos y limnolgicos. Cocoides, unicelular movil, colonias, talos aplanados y filamentos ramificados y no ramificados. Citocinesis involucra un ficoplasto. Dos, cuatro o cientos de flagelos (en clulas vegetativas, zoosporas o gametos). Ciclo de vida haplobiontico. (x-2-x-2, CW o DO).
