In current times most people own a computer, laptop of smartphone.

Doctors cure sickness; so what do we call the people that fix and work with smart devices? Information Technology is defined as the technology involving the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data (Merriam 1).

Information Technology is a branch of the engineering field.

Information Technology professionals work with computers and phones to transmit and store information on different networks. They also help fix and maintain security on computers and smart devices.

Just like in any field a computer science degree does not guarantee job placement in your desired field (in this case Information Technology). The best way to assure the job you want is to take interships because they look great on a resume, and they also increase your chances of getting an interview for a job with that company.
Getting an entry-level job in a company helps get experience for a higher level job.

Some examples of different options available for people with Computer Science degrees are:
Database Administration IT Proffesional Technical Support Management Information Systems Software Engineers Network Administrator Analysts Web Developer

Jobs on the computer field are constanly growing . By 2018 Information Technology jobs will cover 71% of the engineering field (Computer 1).

The book titled Careers in Information Technology states that there are high and low cycles (Wetfeet 58).
During high cycles employers have many interviews and it is easier to get hired. During low cycles prospective employees have to work hard to get the employers attention. Remember it is alwasy imporatnt to follow up with the prospective employer after an interview.

All employers will ask for at least a Bachelors Degree on Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
The only Information Technology job that can be obtained without a degree would be Technical Support because they undergo basic training before starting their job.

Most employers look for candidates that have certain certifications like RedHat, CCSE, Cisco, or Novell (Wetfeet 67).

Presenting yourself in a professional manner is very crucial in your job interview.

Some employers, depending on the job you are being interviewd for, will give you a test to fix, make or protect computer systems. Typically you will want to creat a portfolio online with a hosting site that includes your resume, cover letter and an overview of the works you have done (Wetfeet 69).

Most Information Technology Jobs have desk office job hours. These hours would typically be 8 AM-5 PM or 7 AM-4 PM. The tasks that are performed on the job are different depending on the job you are hired to do.
In the following slide you will see two sample work hours from two different job positions in Computer Science.
