IN FACTS. . .

Whatever the form, plagiarism is unacceptable both academically and professionally. By plagiarizing you are both stealing the work of another person and cheating by representing it as your own. It is wrong to take or use property (an authors work) without giving the owner the credit due. Further, copyright violations can result in damages, fines, or worse.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
1.

Direct Plagiarism That is copying a source word for word without indicating that it is a quote and crediting the author. Borrowing work from other persons Theres nothing wrong with students helping each other or sharing information, but you must write your own works. Vague or Incorrect Citation A writer should indicate where a borrowing begins and ends. Mosaic Plagiarism This is the most common type of plagiarism. The writer does not copy the source directly, but changes a few words in each sentence or slightly reworks a paragraph, without giving credit to original author.

4.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM

Accidental plagiarism usually occurs because we do not understand the cultural conventions of academic writing and citation. Based on two concepts:
In the English-speaking world, people believe that ideas an written expressions of ideas can be owned (different from most Asian). Believe that writing is a visible, concrete demonstration of a writers knowledge, insight, and academic skill (therefore plagiarism would not demonstrate ones knowledge, insight, and academic skill).
