What is Agile Management all about?

Agile is a theoretical subject regarding ways of dealing with practical aspects of project management in a nimble and flexible way rather than through bureaucracy (by building policies).
The course here deals with various Agile practices which are popular. What you pick and choose is left to your discretion. The course does not prescribe any one particular approach. Agile methods advocate a diminished role for a project manager in traditional sense of command control, and believe in a more facilitative approach to management. You can compare ACP to a mini MBA as the approach is quite similar in terms of exposing you to a broader set of practices available to adopt.

Various Project Management related philosophies

PMP (Waterfall)
Focus is on building systems and following systems. Must have a good plan Try and follow the plan rigidly. Changes are generally discouraged as cost increases on account of changes. Results in efficient project execution as long as many changes are not made to the initial plan.

AGILE
Focus is on people and allowing them to make changes so as to develop working software faster and make iterations to improve it. Changes are welcome and less documentation is preferred. PMP is like Boeing 737 (Stable and large) while Agile is like F-16 (Flexible and works best for smaller teams). Results in highly flexible technique which allows significant changes later in the project.

Why Agile?
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.
