Orbit Additional Search Options

Joint Operator
The JOINT operator: _ (Underscore symbol)
The joint operator can help you find search terms that can be written in 1 or 2 words, e.g.: Air bag or Airbag With truncation use it can help connect parts or segments or words, particularly useful with chemical names +ethylen+_+carbonate+
Note : similar to STN (T) operator
2

Joint Operator : Example

retrieves : polydiethyleneglycoldiallylcarbonate

ethylenemonothiolcarbonate

dimethylhexamethylenebisdithiocarbonate
3

Negative Proximity Operators

Phrase operators that take a NOT to specify first term in absence of second term.

NOTS : 1st term with absence of 2nd term in a sentence NOTP : 1st term with absence of 2nd term in a paragraph NOTF : 1st term with absence of 2nd term in a field NOTL : 1st term with absence of 2nd term in a linked
context Examples:

collaps+ nots (screen? or display+) solar cell? notp concentrat+

4

SDOC Operator
SDOC = same document
Family records are built from individual family member records and all family members contribute search terms to the search context. Thus we can connect & combine search terms from all the different family member in a composite pool, puzzle or picture of family text.

Example :

collaps+ and keyboard?

Sometimes we may want to isolate the search to just one document or family member. The SDOC operator permits one to specify that all search terms must be found in same document or family member.

Example :

collaps+ sdoc keyboard?
