Comments
Testing of the coated valve pushers is going quite slow It is possible to be problems with the adhesion of the nc-WC1-x/a-C to the substrate. These can be solved using appropriate an interlayer The drop in hardness of the carbonitrided layer could be solved by replacing the carbonitriding process with nitriding (plasma). At lest 2 plasma nitriding units were operational at the DACIA car factory. With the existing coating unit a few hundreds of valve pushers could be coated daily. Extension of the plasma surface engineering technologies to other components is possible Depending on the results a relative big investment can be thought.
