1.0 INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY i. The use of social networks affects attitudes towards learning modalities in the classroom. PROBLEM STATEMENT i. The attitudes towards the use of social networking tools in the classroom. ii. The use of social networks for rating classes and faculty members.

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES i. Assess the scope and breadth of online social networking among the student of Faculty of Business Management. ii. How such usage affects the needs, perceptions and learning styles of these students in the classroom environment.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS - Use of social networks 1. How many different social networks have you used in the past year? 2. Please list the top three social networks accounts you use. 3. Do you believe social networks such as Facebook and Myspace could be used in a classroom setting? 4. If yes, can you give an example of how it could be used?

- Ratings of learning modalities. 1. Instructors using PowerPoint/Internet with lecture. 2. Lecture with Q&A from students. 3. Instructor and students uses Facebook and Myspace as a communication/learning tool for a class. 4. Group discussions.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY i. Provide overview about social networking and learning modalities. ii. Respondents from diploma UiTM Peraks students in Faculty of Business Management.

2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW


DEFINITION OF THE TERMS - Social networking : a variety of websites that allow users to share content, interact and develop communities around similar interests. - Learning modalities : the sense modalities used in learning for example information may be processed visually, auditory or kinesthetic.

3.0 METHODOLOGY
PRIMARY DATA I. Questionnaire: send set of question to the over 50 diploma students of Faculty of Business Management about this research. II. Observation : observation was made to the students will they was in the faculty and library.

4.0 FINDINGS
Over 90% of respondents use Facebook and others use Myspace or both.

Use of these networks was heavily weighted towards a few highly popular sites including Facebook ( 80% ), Myspace ( 5%) and Twitter ( 15% ).

About 60% of the respondents agree to the learning modalities using PowerPoint/Internet with lecture.

5.0 CONCLUSION
I. From these research, we can see the attitudes of the students while using social networking as the way the communicated with each others and sometimes it can be the classroom for them to make discussions among them in by using social networking. II. We also can see the learning process that suitable or comfortable to students

6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
I. Using the social networking wisely. II. Using the learning modalities more efficiently so that the student be more interesting to learn in class.
