DISASTER SOLUTION

CHAPTER 6

DISASTER
Disaster is a natural or man-made event that affects human life and systems. Disaster can be categorized into two depending on their nature:
Natural disasters:
Earthquakes Flood Fire Hurricane

Man-made disasters:
Aviation Arson Power outage Terrorism Data loss

INTRODUCTION OF DISASTER SOLUTION

Disaster implies to natural calamities and disruptions from fire, power that causes great sabotage. Disaster recovery planning is the process of assessing risks encountered by an organization Two categories of disaster solutions:
maintaining or restoring a service protecting or restoring lost, corrupted, or deleted information

UPS
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source, typically the utility mains, fails.

RAID
Redundant array of inexpensive disks, not only provide fault tolerance against hard disk crashes, it can also improve system performance. RAID breaks up or copies the data you wish to save across multiple hard disks. This prevents a system failure due to the crash of a single drive. It also improves performance, as multiple disks can work together in order to save large files simultaneously.

REDUNDANT SERVER
If a large number of licenses are governed by a single license server, any failure of the server becomes a major event. To prevent problems, it may be desirable to set up redundant servers so that if one server goes down, the license manager can still function. Deploying and maintaining a redundant server solution adds complexity and cost to a data center.

CLUSTERING
A computer cluster is a group of linked computers, working together closely so that in many respects they form a single computer.

TAPE BACKUP
Tape backup is the ability to periodically copy the contents of all or a designated amount of data from its usual storage device to a tape cartridge device so that, in the event of a hard disk crash or comparable failure, the data will not be lost.

TAPE BACKUP
Full backup
Normal @ daily backup Takes all the file for backups Files attribute will be marked as they have been backup Only backs up the files that have been changed since their last backup. Do not change the marker that shows they have been backed up. Backs up only the files that have been changed since the last backup Change the archives marker on the files that are backed up

Differential backup

Incremental backup
