Citt Alta residential emissions


The data from the SEAP 2010 (Sustainable Energy Action Plan) demonstrate that the residential buildings in the upper city have one of the highest value of carbon emissions per person, equal to 8.28.

In Citt Alta the majority of the houses and buildings used for commercial activities have the lowest levels of energy certification (F and G).

In Citt Alta there are also a lot of churches (as the cathedral) and historical buildings used for tourism and cultural purposes (for instance museums).

Weak strategies
The City of Bergamo has already developed a series of strategies of energy conservation in the construction sector.

The objective of SEAP is to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide of 20% by 2020.

BUT these activities focused mainly on the procedures for the construction of new building and nowadays a clear plan for sustainable renovations does not exist

. How can (historic) buildings be conserved and enhanced through energy-efficient measures?
. Which strategies can be taken to adapt (historic) buildings to new functions and user demands? . Which options realize an optimum building quality with the least possible intervention?
