After the war, a new constitution will be drafted. There was no provision for the Office of the Vice President in the 1943 Constitution. It gave more importance to the duties of the Filipinos rather than their freedom and rights. Tagalog was declared the national language.
Japanese-Sponsored Republic
Japanese-Sponsored Republic
After the ratification of the constitution, a group called Kapisanan sa Paglilingkod sa Bagong Pilipinas (KALIBAPI) prepared the way for the establishment of the Republic. Members of the National Assembly were elected. Half of the total members of the assembly were mayors and governors. The National Assembly was inaugurated on September 23, 1943.
Japanese-Sponsored Republic
The republic was inaugurated on October 14, 1943 in front of the Legislative Building in Manila. It was a puppet government because Japan manipulated Filipino government officials to make the laws fit their satisfaction.
