Dept. of Sewerage Services was formed as regulator for sewerage services under the SSA. Sewerage Services were managed by 144 Individual Local Authorities Indah Water took over sewerage management in most states in Peninsular Malaysia Govt. Under Minister of Finance Incorporated took over IWK Water Services Industry Act 2006 & SPAN approved by Parliament Establishment of National Water Services Commission (SPAN) & enforcement of Water Services Industry Act 2006 Indah water provides sewerage services in 87 out of the 144 Local Authorities in Malaysia. Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) is responsible for providing sewerage services, operating and maintaining over 5,605 public sewage treatment plants and 14,700km networks of sewerage pipelines as well as desludging and septage management for 1 million ISTs. IWK covers most parts of Malaysia for operation and maintenance whilst providing technical expertise to the remaining unserviced area.

Objective: IWK providing technical assistance and sharing of best practice and knowledge to PD PAL Jaya and PDAM Kota Bandung through study tours, technical advice, training, and peer review activities on septage management. MOU was signed on 19 January 2011 The program start on January 2011 and will end by October 2011 Expected Output/Outcomes: Improved access to improves wastewater management services for at least 15,000 people in Jakarta and Bandung; Strengthen capacities of PD PAL Jaya and PDAM Kota Bangdung to operate and manage septage management programme in their service area; Adoption and application of at least three new policies and practices on septage management introduced through the WOP.
Comparative study visit by Indonesia Delegate (Bandung City, Medan City, West Jawa Dictric, IATPI & BAPPEDAS) Date Visit: 15 20 May 2006 Outcome: IWKs shared the best practices of sewerage management in Malaysia with the delegates
Study visit by Denpasar Sewerage Development Project (DSDP) Bali Delegates Date Visit: 18-20 September 2006 Outcome: The delegates were gain hands on exposure and training for their newly completed STP. The training by IWK focus on best practices for O&M
Visitation from Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) Kota Bandung, Indonesia Date Visit: 24 August 2007 Outcome: IWK provided advisory services to improve PDAMs financial & technical knowledge for better sewerage services

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the importance of desludging work. Identify the difference between conventional method and septic tank of sewage treatment. Explain the functions of septic tank. Carried out desludging work in a correct and safe manner. Handle sludge in a safe and correct way.
