Business Master Data

The Business Master Data consists of:

Business partner Contract account

Business Partner(Customer)
Business Partner means the Consumer who consumes a utility service which in this case is Gas. Each customer has a unique Business Partner number in the system The business partner is billed for the Gas consumed and is responsible for the payment of the bill. Typically a business partner is classified in the following categories: Person, Group, and Organization.

Contract Account (Customers Billable A/C)

Contract Account is the customer's account with the utility company against which the customer is billed for his consumption of the utility services. In case if the customer is consuming Gas at various installation points, all such individual contracts can be grouped under the same Contract Account and a collective bill can be generated against it.

Technical Master Data

The Technical Master Data consists of:

Connection Object Premise Device Location Utility Installation Device Installation

Connection Object
Connection Object is the physical entity where the Utility Company provides the utility services. A typical example of a connection object can be a Building or a Factory

Premise
A premise is an enclosed spatial unit (such as an apartment or suite) to which a utility service is supplied. The premise is allocated to a connection object and is associated to the address of that connection object. Several installations can be allocated to one premise (for different utilities such as water, Gas etc.) A contract account become billable only after the customer moves in to the premise.

Device Location
Device location is a place within a Connection Object where the device (Meter) is physically installed. The device location is allocated to the address of the connection object and premise. Device Location contains a description to define the exact location of the meter inside the building for the convenience of the meter reader in locating the installed Meter for taking reading when he visits the building.

Utility Installation
Utility Installation represents the installation of Gas connection at the customer's premises. Utility Installation contains data relevant to billing contracts, for example the rate category and installation facts e.t.c. Utility Installations are assigned to and grouped under a Meter Reading Unit (MRU) based on their location. Meter Reading Schedules are generated separately for each MRU which determine the dates and frequency of Meter reading.

Device Installation (Meter Installation)

Device Installation represents the installation of Meter at the customer premise against a utility Installation. Device Installation connects a Contract Account, Premise and the Device together and makes the customer billable for the amount of Gas consumption measured by the installed device

Device(Meter) Master Data

Device Master Data consists of:

Register Group Device Category Device Serial Number

14

Register Group
Register Group consists of the set of registers in a meter which actually capture the amount of units consumed at an installation. Each Device Category of the type Meter is assigned a Register Group.

15

2010 Wipro Ltd - Confidential 2009 Wipro Ltd - Confidential

Device Category (Type of Meter)

Device Category groups together devices (meters) with the same features. It categorizes meters based on their features such as : Single Phase Meter or Three Phase Meter e.t.c.

Name of a device category can be based on:

Meter Make Model Number of Dials Meter Type

16

2010 Wipro Ltd - Confidential 2009 Wipro Ltd - Confidential

Device Serial Number(Meter Serial Number)

Device Serial Number is a number associated with each device (Meter).

Device Serial Number is assigned to Premise and Contract Account of the customer during the Meter installation.
Each Device is assigned under a device category having a particular register group. Thus each combination of Device Serial Number, Device Category and Register Group is unique and identifies a particular Meter.

Meter Reading Scheduling

The Meter Reading Scheduling consists of:

Portions : Portions are groups of contracts that are to be billed together.

Meter Reading Unit (MRU): Meter reading units group together utility installations according to regional criteria. They contain all data relevant to meter reading scheduling.

Scheduling: Scheduling periodically generates dates for meter reading and billing.

Portions
Portions are groups of contracts that are to be billed together. A contract is allocated to a portion either directly in the contract or indirectly via the meter reading units that are specified in the utility installation belonging to the contract They are the equivalent of billing cycles, they combine contracts that are to be billed together, and contain dates for billing.

Meter Reading Units (MRU)

Meter reading units group together utility installations according to regional criteria. They contain all data relevant to meter reading scheduling. Meter reading schedules are generated separately for each MRU. Meter reading units can only be created if a Portion already exists.

20

2010 Wipro Ltd - Confidential 2009 Wipro Ltd - Confidential

Scheduling
Scheduling periodically generates dates for meter reading and billing. Before you can generate these schedule records, you must create the schedule master records for meter reading (the meter reading units) and for billing (the portions). Based on the dates set up in the portion, schedule records are generated for all MRUs When the scheduled meter reading date associated with an MRU is reached Meter Reading Orders have to be generated against it. Billing Orders are generated automatically.

Meter Reading Orders

The meter reading order contains register-specific data and information on scheduled meter readings such as meter reader and scheduled meter reading date.

Meter reading orders are generated based on meter reading schedules for each Meter Reading Unit (MRU).
Meter reading entry takes place on dates specified in the schedule for the number of meter installations which lie within that particular Meter reading unit for which the order has been generated

Meter Reading Entry

Meter readings can be recorded in the following two ways:
Meter reader from the utility company

visits the customer premise and records the meter readings based on the MR Order.
Customer himself records and provides

the meter readings to the Utility company over phone.

Meter Reading Estimation

If a periodic reading has not arrived by the time the bill period end date is reached then an estimated reading will be generated and bill will be produced based on the estimated meter reading. The estimated meter reading is calculated using customer specified criteria and standard SAP functionality based on previous meter reading history. If the available history is insufficient for producing a good estimation then the estimation of meter reading will be done based on periodic consumption.

Meter Reading Validation

All readings are validated using standard SAP validation rules. Any readings that fail validation will be marked as Implausible the business need to review all implausible readings and either Release for billing or enter a corrected reading. All readings that pass validation will automatically be considered as Plausible and billed (If appropriate).

27

2010 Wipro Ltd - Confidential 2009 Wipro Ltd - Confidential

Meter Reading Correction

After Validation if the meter readings are found to be implausible then the implausible Meter readings will be reviewed and corrected by the Utility company authorities.
Corrected meter reading will again be passed through the validations until they are validate as correct as per the specified validation rules. Corrected meter reading will then be passed on for billing to the SAP Billing system.
