Anticipatory Set
This is an activity to first gain the students attention.

A well done anticipatory set will help the client become mentally or physically ready for the lesson.

Objective
Inform audience what you expect to accomplish at the end of presentation. The objective of presentation should be specific and focused.

Example of Stating an Objective

Im here today to teach you how to make a sales presentation. In order to do this I will present these seven steps to you and then further demonstrate these steps in small groups

Purpose
What value will this information give to the audience? The reason to provide purpose in a presentation is because this gives reason for students to participate and learn new skills.

Examples of a Purpose
As graduating high school seniors, you will use these steps to engage an audience with a successful sales demonstration.

Input
Information that the audience needs in order to understand the objectives of the presentation. Definitions and explanations are very important here.

Modeling
Demonstrate finished product and consider all essential steps and key points.

Examples of Modeling

Demonstrate each step as in performing an anticipatory set.

Ask someone in the audience to also demonstrate one of the steps.

Guided Practice
When audience first attempts at your lesson, make sure that it is guided. Monitor those practicing so that mistakes are corrected.

Idea: Call for multiple volunteers to perform before the class.

Examples of Guided of Practice

Ask three people from the audience to teach three other people in the audience about the seven steps towards making a successful presentation.
Help them when necessary.

Check for Understanding

Teacher checks for comprehension between the audience and material presented. This can be done by observing class interaction and should be assessed often.

Teach someone to teach someone else!

Checking for Understanding

Ask Call

for questions.

on the willing people in the audience to explain one of the steps and why its important.

Closure
Provide a final check for understanding and ensure that audience learned the objectives of the presentation.

Closure is more than a review. It sets the stage for a productive next lesson.
