Vision Statement

VIA-Values Identity Art is latin for `way`. VIA

is a way to life through art calling for
appreciation of diversity within different
communities, so that understanding and
information flow between communities can
increase.
Mission Statement

VIA by accepting diversity, advocates that the preservation

of identity is about accepting hybridity
VIA strengthens cultural identity and achievement for local,
national and international mobility.
Das Projekt
Die Grundidee des V.I.A. Projekts, zeigt dass man durch
gegenseitiges interkulturelles Verständnis und durch
Akzeptanz der Verschiedenheit den Informationsaustausch
zwischen verschiedenen Gemeinschaften fördern und so zu
einem interkulturellen Dialog beitragen kann. Jede
Current Context
Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, Year of Innovation
2009. The
project covers both these realms. endorses the project
fully.

in traditional skills for young artists and artisans. Our
schools and programs aim to encourage innovation
because for traditions to survive they must respond
creatively to new cultural and economic challenges in
their environment.

Innovative Art Education
Methods
Based on primary research of how art educators
engage with exhibitions and artefacts,
continental European museums focus on
dialogue, discussion and debate, whereas UK
museums focus on craftwork. Therefore, an
objective of this project is to merge the two
methods together integrating both theory and
practice for a praxis

The Social Life of Objects

Using objects from the past, we took students to the
contemporary context of where the objects came from
and what is there now.
Evaluation

Instead of using a method of

students at both a creative and

Self and Peer Evaluation
Learning Logs: Focus
workshops activities and
does not include
comments about personal
matters.

Personal journals: Students

write whatever they wish.
Students record events in
their lives, explore ideas,
questions, fears,
concerns and other
thoughts
Self and Peer Assessment
Peer and Self Assessment

Teachers will find the Learning Objectives useful as a point of reference in

mapping progression. Activities can be planned to provide a rich range of
experience and interaction with the new language and methods to promote
progress but also to allow ample opportunities for assessment for learning and
informal teacher assessment. Progress in all strands can be recorded using a
portfolio approach and more formal accreditation is available through the
International Recognition Scheme.

Peer and Self Assessment

The aim is to involve children in the analysis and constructive criticism of their
own work and that of others. Peer and self-assessment are ways of engaging
children in understanding their progress and identifying next steps in their
learning. They are not replacements for teacher marking and feedback but
important additional forms of assessment which encourage children to become
independent learners. If the assessment is to be effective, time must built in to
the lesson for structured reflection.

Tangible Outcomes

Exhibitions in Vienna, Budapest, and NYC

supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum
Das Projekt
V.I.A. will sich vor Allem der
Problematik der eigenen Identität, der
Verschiedenheit und dem
gegenseitigen Verständnis widmen um
Vorurteile zu umgehen und einen
neuen Blickwinkel zu schaffen. Um
dies zu erreichen bedient sich V.I.A.
der Methode der Intercultural Art
Education“.
Das Projekt
Die Schüler der Lauder Chabad School Vienna, Secondary
School of Applied Arts in Budapest, der Lauder School
