ORAP Data Entry Presentation

General Info

Definitions
ORAP means (Operational Reliability Analysis Program) is a service provided by Strategic Power Systems, Inc. (SPS) to owners/operators and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for monitoring the Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) of the total plant, both simple and combined-cycle, including gas and steam turbines.

Common Questions
How Often Should I Submit Data? -At a minimum monthly, but optional daily or weekly What Type of Information Should I Enter? - Events - Operational Data - Counter Readings

Events Examples
Failure to Start: used for instantaneous trip prior to completion of start
sequence or unit did not start in the startup time defined by dispatcher.
-Start was initiated and unit could not achieve flame, it was discovered that ignitor cable was cracked, needed replacement. - Start was initiated, unit achieved flame, breaker would not close due to faulty relay.

Events Examples
Forced Outage Automatic Trip (FOA): A trip from a state of operation
when a component failure or other condition which causes the unit to be shut down automatically by the control system.
- Unit tripped on high lube oil temperature, due to a shorted transmitter. Replaced transmitter and the unit returned to service.

Forced Outage Manual Trip (FOM): Shutdown from a state of operation

when a component failure or other condition which resulted in a decision by the appropriate personnel to manually trip/remove the unit from service. This event type can also be used in cases where human actions result in the tripping of a unit from a state of operation.
- A rise in vibrations was experienced and the unit was shut down to investigate. A failed vibration sensor was discovered, replaced and the unit returned to service. - A crane operator accidentally damaged the lube oil skid while removing the generator housing from unit#2 for major repair work. After replacement of the damaged pumps and piping, unit#1 was restarted.

Operational Data (monthly)

Gross Output of Unit Over Stated Time Period Gas Fuel Consumption (mmBTU) Factored Hours Total hours unit run on gas and distillate. Service Hours Number of Hours Unit in Operation. Unavailable Hours Will Import From Events. Reserve Hours Hours Not Considered as Service Hours or Unavailable Hours. Successful Starts Number of Starts Resulting in Breaker Closure. Attempted Starts Start Attempts on a Unit. Difference between successful and attemted starts MUST equal the number of Failure to Start Events reported.

Counter Readings
Service Hours Lifetime total for the package. Factored Hours Lifetime total factored fired hours. Fired Starts Start where flame achieved in gas turbine. Lifetime total. Total Starts Number of times that the start button was pushed. Trip Count Number of times the unit tripped.
