The aim of the work:

To explore the pollution in the watercourse.

The tasks of the work:

To define the water acidity (PH).
To define the chemical pollution of the

watercourse using the indicators of different substances. To define the speed of the water flow. To define the water pollution according to the anthropoids and their caterpillars

The watercourse of the study: the river Ia

The study of waters chemical pollution

The pH of the rivers is 6.5 8.5. The pH of the river Ia is 7.8 that indicates that it meets the norm. There were not defined chlorine compounds in the water. In unpolluted waters the amount of nitrites is >0.001mg/l=0.001ppm. In clean surface waters the concentration of nitrates usually is 0.4-8 mg/l. Comparing the obtained data with norms of clean surface waters we can conclude that the amount of nitrates is increased but the amount of nitrite ions meets the norm.

Nitrogen compounds can mutually change because the nitrogen circulation in the nature is defined by the activity of microorganisms. When exploring the surrounding of the river we noticed the flooded meadows and fields used in agriculture that may be the sources of the pollution

Defining the speed of the water flow

Evaluating the obtained results we concluded that the river Ia belongs to a slow flow rivers which streams

speed doesnt exceed 0.25 m/s in all their length. The speed of the river flow in the place where the study was carried out was 0.077m/s. The speed of the water flow promotes the rivers self cleaning ability. The basis of this ability is the capability of microorganizms, plants and other water animals to destroy, consume and digest the substances washed in the water.

Defining water pollution by studying the anthropoids

Carrying out the research work

we concluded that the only catterpillars of the anthropoids met there were the catterpillars of dipterous family( Diptera).

Finding these anthropoids would indicate to the water pollution, but as there were not found any other anthropoids and we could not compare their amount we could not make any conclusion about the water pollution. To carry out this part of the research we

would have to repeat it in summer when the temperatures of the air and the water will be suitable for anthropoids developement.

Conclusions:
The pH of the river Ia is 7.8 and it meets the criteria of water

quality in the river. There was found a chemical pollution in the rivers water, that was prooved by carrying out the tests for defining nitrites and nitrates. There were not defined chlorine compounds in the water. The river Ia as all the other flowing watercourses has a selfcleaning ability and the Ia belongs to slow flow rivers. We could not define the cleanness of the river by to the anthropoids and their caterpillars found in the water and near it because the air and the water temperatures were not suitable yet for anthropoids developement.
