Click to Subscribe Subscribe Today: We study techniques of gunfighting everywhere.  We hold up our shooting skills (technique) above all to show how we will win a gunfight.  But the route world of gunfight is fight, not gun. Everyone talks about that, but what tactics do you really study, know, and will implement in an actual gunfight?  That gets harder. You should be studying tactics at least as much as you are studying techniques.  Whatever amount of time and effort you use to go shooting, take classes, and work on shooting better is the same amount you should be putting forward to use tactics. And when you practice your technique do you practice your tactics too?  How about when you draw, move towards cover.  Don’t just stand there flat footed and hope your shooting skills will be good enough to win the fight.  It takes a lot of shooting skill to overcome bad tactics (a lot).  It would be better if you worked on your tactics and put yourself in a position that made it almost impossible for you to lose and the shooting element was so simple that it made you laugh. That’s a better way to win a gunfight then standing toe to toe and seeing who can draw faster and make the most hits before the other guy.  No one fights like the OK Corral since the OK Corral.  It didn’t go well for either side that day.
