Affirmations when Grieving This really hurts This pain is so challenging At times I just don’t know how to manage it I feel lost I feel overwhelmed I’m hurting and I’m numb at the same time One moment I feel okay , the next I feel distraught Something so random can make me crumble I feel it It hurts This is so hard My head and my heart are not in the same place I give myself time and space to grieve I give myself time and space to mourn I give myself time and space to cry My emotions can be a mixed bag But I have many options for facing my feelings I can write a poem, a story, a journal entry I can create a song, a painting, a memory book I can dance, sing, or do both I can come up with my own special list of how I will face my emotions And I will keep it handy for when I need it I ask for what I need I remember everyone grieves in their own way I grieve in my own way I will take care of myself I take things one day at a time I will simply and clearly ask for what I need from those around me I will use my voice I will reach for support when I need it I will process on my own when I need it I will set boundaries on sources of help that aren’t working for me I know I may not be as consistent as in the past But I put my needs above what other people think of me My focus is on facing this in the healthiest ways for me I take refreshing breaks from grieving While not avoiding grieving altogether If I face temptation to be destructive in my grief, I give myself an escape plan that will prevent this I offer myself room to sit with my feelings I give myself space to understand my feelings I am coping with my inner wisdom, strength and confidence I maintain my health and my hygiene, even if it’s on minimal mode I know my heart will ache, especially on anniversary dates and other meaningful days I will prepare for these by reducing the stressors in my life I am facing what has happened With raw, genuine love and strength I am facing everything With raw, genuine love and strength I am facing what has happened With my raw, genuine love and strength I am facing it all With my raw, genuine love and strength Affirmations by Josie Ong Want More?
