A Journey to Freedom: Burt's Story

Goals of A Journey to Freedom: To explore and discuss the real source of our American freedoms and what our privileges & rights are as “citizens” and as “people”. To discuss some of the basics from America's founding documents. To provide ideas and sample documents. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,” Declaration of Independence. What is a “citizen?” In the land we know as America, this has become a complicated question. What’s the difference between a “people” and a “citizen?” How do peoples’ rights compare to citizens’ privileges? Here’s the story of how Burt, a naturalized citizen, renounced his U.S. citizenship, in accordance with the policies set forth by the Dept. of State, and became a member of the body politic of “stateless” men and women known as “the people.” Further, in his documents, Burt also chose to ally himself with the “sovereign people, on the land, and in the state commonly known as Colorado.” This returns to Burt all of the rights that he waived unknowingly when he identified himself as a U.S. Citizen; it returns to Burt the right to alter and abolish bad govt. as recognized in America’s founding documents, including the 7th Amendment, filing a suit at common law.
